I did withdraw the offer. I made the post in this thread first. The one in this thread is, indeed, the offer which I withdrew.
 
well accualy if this was on-topic then the world would explode cause we can never have a topic stay on-topic. ;)
 
I will play the advocate card and say no to start off with (but if I didn't play the advocate card I would say yes, in short, I say yes they are pretty awesome).

Because an "off-topic" forum would be paradoxical: the fact that threads are off-topic in a place for off-topic threads makes them on-topic and therefore it is a paradox and should not be set up to avoid the human's attempt to cope with it's own inability to work with and/or explain such phenomena.

In layman's terms the forum would not be off-topic and the fact that it is both on and off the topic would confuse everyone.


Also, people tend to hi-jack threads whether by accident or by purpose and make them off-topic, meaning that off-topic threads are unnecessary because separating on and off topic posts would deal a blow to the excitement of the SoE forums.

Naturally, foreseeing said events, no such forum has ever been made to avoid total disaster...
Or perhaps they just never decided to make said forum...

Either way it probably won't happen soon, if at all.

Well, this is the "general" forum for SoE, so that would include any randomness. For CG Alliance as a whole, there's the General Discussion (cga) subforum.

In short, it's totally unnecessary. And if the mods had forced on-topic only discussions in the forums, it would have killed many wonderful conversations, from the totally silly to the uplifting and serious.

And it would be boring. :)

But I think this thread serves a valuable purpose: we can come here and post about anything at all that doesn't necessarily merit its own thread. If it strikes a chord with people, we may have a conversation that last several posts, or even pages.
