Yes that what I believe churches should do. If parents werent so stubborn I would say that christians should have nothing to do with it whatsoever. Later probably tomorrow if I can find it again I am going to try and post its to true origens which is deep rooted in the occult and sadism. I am too old to trick or treat myself but many of us here I am sure have neices and nephews that arent.[b said:Quote[/b] (Thaddius @ Oct. 08 2003,11:41)]Our church holds an event every year to give kids something else to do besides trick or treat.

Just please don't use Jack Chick as a reference, K?[b said:Quote[/b] (mrpopdrinker @ Oct. 08 2003,10:44)]
I have never heard of jack chick. It has been about a year since I last looked at it but this "holiday" is both deeprooted in sadism and the occult. And you know when sadinsm and the occult are involved somone gets killed.[b said:Quote[/b] (Big J @ Oct. 09 2003,5:16)]Just please don't use Jack Chick as a reference, K?
It was a pagan custom, as is pretty much everything.
It did not involve killing people.
Nope it has nothing to do with christ. I was set free from sin but we are not free to sin. There is nothing with christianity in it whatsoever. Just like easter when you celebrate it you are taking place in a pagan holiday. This is a good article on the pagan/sadistic origens of it.[b said:Quote[/b] (Kidan @ Oct. 09 2003,11:34)]it's just as rooted in the occult as Christmas. a good majority of Christian holidays were arranged to coincide with pagan ones. Besides, what does it truly matter? are you free in Christ or not?
I say it's a Christian holiday because I as a Christian celebrate it. Maybe not as much as I used to...but I am old now...![]()
Actually if I had the power I would change the calender. If you wish to celbrate the ressurection of your saviour and call the day the name of a pagan god who was born on that day even though it mocks christianity go for it. As far as halloween and easter too actually. I cant remember the verses but I am sure God told us not to worship him as pagans do. Oh yes could somone please tell me what IMO meens?[b said:Quote[/b] (4t0p @ Oct. 09 2003,12:53)]IMO all things can involve Christ whether or not they were originally intended. If a small child dresses up as an angel for halloween is that sinful? Is that child not in his/her own way spreading the Glory of God to other children who ask "what are you" and the response is "Someone sent to spread the Word of the Lord [an angel]"?
My first thought when I hear Easter is the Ressurection ... regardless of whether the day was originally pagan or not is it not good that through others celebrating what you call a pagan holiday I, and I'm sure others, remember the Glory of God?
Words and days are relative we make what we will of them, for example the first day of the week arguement, does it really matter if we go to church on sunday monday or even thursday (popdrinker I advise to avoid this day as best as possible it was named after the pagan god Thor ~ you may be corrupted by its evils [plz forgive the sarcasm]) as long as when we go we are giving God glory and praise?
No your point was as long as we give God glory does it matter what we call or or on what day. My answer would be yes. Such worship adulterated.[b said:Quote[/b] (4t0p @ Oct. 09 2003,1:03)]you straight up completely missed the point
No ill just move to Yisrael when I get the money.[b said:Quote[/b] (4t0p @ Oct. 09 2003,1:17)]so you would rather not worship God b/c someone of a different faith has a different name for the day you do it on? You should stop practicing now b/c every single day of the week is named in some culture somewhere for a pagan god
gg
That is?[b said:Quote[/b] (mrpopdrinker @ Oct. 09 2003,1:21)]Yisrael
As far as I know the actual name is Yisrael. As well as Jerusalem being Yerushalayim. You know how I am about original Hebrew names. Although I could be wrong I do believe those are the actual names.[b said:Quote[/b] (LionOfJudah @ Oct. 09 2003,2:32)]That is?[b said:Quote[/b] (mrpopdrinker @ Oct. 09 2003,1:21)]Yisrael? where, because God changes Jacobs name to Isreal and that is the name of his nation not Yisreal, as far as i know......![]()
