Very cagey SirThom, very cagey indeed. However, your noble and trustworthy Gandalf avatar isn't fooling anyone!

If you were prisoners in a country run by a ruthless dictator, here is the point where the Celine Dion CDs would begin to receive playtime until you fessed up.

I updated my list. Right now I'm playing World of Warcraft on the PC and that has a way of monopolizing a lot of time. Lately on the Xbox I've been playing Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Halo 2, and I also recently picked up a steering wheel, so I will probably be playing Midtown Madness 3, Rallisport Challenge 2, and Forza Motorsport more often.

Guess who's BACK? :D Removed the softmod I had on my xbox, took me 3 minutes. On Xbox Live now..will add your Gamertags. Mine is Pilgrim03, I am going to erase most of the gamertags that I have now that I don't recognize. (My sister was on my xbox for awhile..she added random people). If I delete you by accident, re-add me.

I'm good for some Halo 2!

Edit: Someone wanna throw me an invite to the TOJ clan? Thank you.

I'm still around. For those who don't have my GT it's Dan12R. I've got Halo 2, NBA 2K6, Dead or Alive 4, and Perfect Dark Zero.

I was playing Halo 2 with a friend from my school, and he was being harassed by this iwashahs or w/e and screaming expletives. Literally screaming....and calling him Cuban....where does the Cuban thing come from? I don't understand it.

Well that was a random paragraph, kinda. My tag on XBL is billyrayjoebob...:)

Oh I also have SWBF2 and Unreal Championship

Why'd you dudes mod your Xboxes in the first place?

I have some friends who are able to play both PS2 games and Xbox games with mods. Other than losing XBL capability, not a bad option. 2 consoles for the price of 1.

Agonizing decision over Xbox 360 purchase

I have 50 dollars down for a reserve on a premium Xbox 360 due to arrive on April 1st. I'm a little conflicted about this decision though. I only have a standard definition TV, and I won't be purchasing a HDTV in the near future. With college costs and a growing conviction that I should use my money not on fleeting self-indulgent things like videogames but things that can make an impact for God, I'm a little torn.

Anybody feel like tossing in their two cents?

Are you more concerned about the lack of an HDTV, or not saving your money?

I think I'm most concerned about throwing away my money on me. I don't think lack of a HDTV would be a deal breaker, but it could help tip the scales.

I had planned on buying the 360 this year, but the more I thought about it, the more I decided to wait.

I'm not going to try to discourage you, but I'll give you my reasons for waiting:

1) There are not a lot of games out for it yet, and none of them are "must have" titles.

A lot of the games that are currently out for the 360 look cool, but I've heard that they're just alright. Also, several of my friends that have 360s are currently not really playing anything because they either finished or became bored with their current games. Then of course there's the fact that the games are $60, which brings me to my next point...

2) A price drop is inevitable.

My wife bought me the original Xbox a few years ago for my birthday, and almost exactally one month later the price dropped. Even before the 360 was released, I read that Microsoft was setting up a plan to drop the price of the 360 each year. I'm also fairly certain that the price of the 360 will drop when the PS3 is released. Also by waiting, the games should be cheaper because I should be able to pick up used copies of the launch titles, and/or 360 games on sale or clearance.

With the release of Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter and soon to be released Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just around the corner, I think the true "next-gen" games are beginning to arrive, which is what has piqued my interest.

While I believed that a price drop was inevitable as well, the PS3 may be further off then initially assumed. Couple this with the fact that many prominent investors are predicting astounding manufacturing costs for the PS3 (somewhere in 700 to 900 dollar range) and PS3 could conceivably launch at a price higher than 500 dollars. If it were to launch at this point, I'm not so certain Microsoft would be compelled to drop the price of the 360.

In the end, I think my decision ultimately hinges on something much greater then a price drop or display quality. I know this thread is questionable here, and perhaps belongs in religious discussion, but I'm still ultimately torn over whether or not I should be spending money on videogames.

This is something for you to just pray about. God wants us to be fiscally responsible. For me, I go to a university that's quite a party school. Most people are out doing "College things" on the weekend and I use video games as a distraction from all of that. Probably not the best thing, but it does make it easier to avoid doing a lot of stupid stuff. This and other factors led me to getting a 360. But if you feel led to do other things with your money, then strongly consider it. God has a way of blessing those who use their money and gifts for His glory (see parable about the servants and the talents). I could tell you all the ups and downs about 360, but until you've decided if spending money on such a thing now is an ok thing to do, I wouldn't worry too much about it. At least that's my 2 cents.

Do you play your Xbox 360 on a standard definition TV?

Chapter re-starting

Well, my schedule has finally freed up enough to the point where I can lead this chapter. Hopefully we should be able to play a match of Halo 2 or Counter-Strike soon! =)

That being said, please check the Xbox Chapter Roster and let me know if you need me to edit your listing.

I'll be sending out e-mails to all members of the chapter to help spark more interest in the chapter very soon.

Game match soon?

According to the current revision of the Xbox Chapter Roster, 16 of us have Halo 2, which leads me to think that we should have a match sometime soon.

There's also a chance that we will play Crimson Skies eventually, because six of us own that as well.

If you're interested in playing either of these games with the group, please post now.

now.

Just thought I'd be smart about that. Anyways, I'm just about always up for some Halo 2. I'm free Thursday night through Saturday night.

Cool, I'll keep that in mind. =)
