Would you drive...

My first thought: If a SUV hits me while I'm driving this thing, THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO BURY WHAT'S LEFT OF ME IN A SOUP CAN! (Team Fortress 2 reference, for those who didn't know.)

Srsly, this thing is like a SUV hors doeuvre. The Law of Vehicular Maneuvering Intelligence states that the size and durability of one's vehicle is inversely proportional to the driver's skill. That's why people who drive Hummers drive the way they do--because they can.

I would totally drive one of these things. Even if I did get pasted all over the roads by an SUV, at least I'd get pasted in style.

No...like the smart car, I find this ugly and pointless, I am a gas guzzling V8 man... If it gets over 20 MPG it is plastic and I have no need of it... The old days of cast iron...where are you... :(

It almost looks like you could attach wings and a jet engine to it and have a hybrid....

Probably the main downsides:
- it has 3 wheels so it will be interesting to see how well it handles turns (particularly while backing up).
- Due to the obscene cost of batteries this vehicle will probably run 25k+ USD. Which means very few people will probably buy it. Vehicles are already overpriced, particularly when they loose a large percentage of their value the second you drive them off the lot.

I saw it and liked it.

Their website advertises that it's roof can hold the weight of two elephants.

Their specs read that the car is almost 15 feet long too, definitely larger than a smart car.

They market the car from $25,000 to $40,000. $25k is definitely not expensive. The hybrids that we sell at the Ford dealership where I work regularly sell for $35k (most of them are sold even before they arrive at the dealership!). The MSRP is $25k, if they are sold to dealerships that are owned by different companies then they may hike the price up to "market value". If Aptera owns the dealerships, they may just for $25K.

I would definitely drive this car as it would be cheap to operate and I think it looks really cool. Besides, mileage equivalent to 100+ mpg?! You'd be insane to pass that up.

Too bad they are only sold in california.

I'd have to agree with VK. Looks like they took the front part of a Learjet.

Not for me, I like the Humvee or the Hummer (H1).

Though, would be cool if I had a Monster Truck. :D

It can fly when the semi truck rams into your side. Not that it is any different from the coffins we drive today.
Ironically, it would still be safer than a Mini Cooper or a Spider. Then again, so would an actual wooden coffin duct-taped to a lawnmower engine.

Theres nothing wrong with driving a car (or van) from the '80s. My favorite cars are from the '80s! Porsche 944 and 951, first generation BMW M3 and M5, old Mercedes diesels...

Anyway, if you compare the price of hybrids that are available now to Aptera's car you will notice that the vast majority of them are priced above $30k. When you take into consideration the huge difference in 100+ MPG equivalent to a 50 mpg Prius... the price is absurdly low.

True but how many accidents have we all been in that has involved a semi truck? 99% of the accidents I've seen around the city are people going 30mph and not stopping fast enough before they hit the person in front of them. That is, congestion related versus speed related.

Would I drive this around town? Probably not. It's all futuristic and all, and would turn heads and maybe the climate on Venus would turn better if I drove it, but this is not what I would call a car styled to appease my eyes. It is cool and all, and I would likely drive it for abit for a laugh but I would most likely find myself back in my G6 by weeks end. Would I drive it on the highway? Not likely. If I am on the highway, I likely have the whole family and dog with me, so this is not a practical vehicle for that.

The real question here I guess is: Would you drive it on the moon then?
