Why Ret

and from personal experience mages cant tank, and neither can Romulas.... :cool:

i can heal tho i got mad bandaid skillz!
 
The main thing is play what you like, I like dps casters, hence I play a shadow priest and a mage, working on an Affliction/Destro lock now.

I also have Theros my faithful prot pally who is like a dps caster in many ways without strictly being melee like a warrior, rogue. I prefer ranged fighting over melee all the way but strangely I dislike hunters they remind me to much of melee toon. My highest ever melee toon was level 6, tried a rogue and warrior to that point...I deleted them both :D

Though at times I've been called on to heal, I do it, but the whole time, I'm dying to press 7, 6, 5, 4, Vampiric Touch, Shadow Word:Pain, Mind Blast, Mind Flay...

Ooooo....makes me want to go respec back Shadow from having to heal ZA...
 
See I'm just the oposite... I love melee... it's what I love to do. I have a Ret pally, warrior and a rogue (almost 70) and the only other class I'd be interested in playing is an enhancement shammy. I don't like standing back and casting, it doesn't feel like I'm actually making a difference. I used to heal in MC/BWL and I hated it. I would never enchant my gear, or use pots/flasks because I couldn't care less about healing. Now that I'm allowed to melee full time I will spend any amount of money to make my DPS go up ever so slightly. When you are doing what you love the game is so much more rewarding.

well he is the only one to say anything good about ret!! =(
 
to tell you the truth , the only reason i heal instead of any other spec is because im very unsure of my abiltys to tank and dps. i have a almost fully complete tanking set just short some stats because of a few other pieces im missing. if i could tank just once and do well at it , that would be a great thing

as for ret pallies , ret is a good spec for lvling and depending on how good and well geared you are , raiding. ive attempted to play a ret pally in the past then stopped because i couldnt focus on dps and would always stop and heal , got kicked out of alot of groups because of it
 
Jeremy, I just wanted to clarify my comments since I heard you are leaving the Guild.

I hope you leave here knowing that you were welcomed with open arms in Red as a Retpally. Time and time again your peers said that you can play what makes you happy. Red is a rare find that is so friendly, open, and accommodating to all class/specs. The only negative comments in this thread about Ret-pallys are directed towards the REST of the server population who is not so willing to include you. I doubt that anything was meant to be a personal attack on you but simply answering your question about why people outside of Redeemed wont allow you in groups as Ret.

Anyways for what its worth, you will find the exact same problem on your next server. A Christian guild that will accept you and a server population that will dis you. It's just facts of life as a Ret-pally, I am sorry bro.

I'm pretty sure your experiences will be very similar on any server. It takes a lot of resiliance (not the stat) to stand up to nay-sayers and show them what you can do. The only way to get people to accept your Retness is to prove yourself.
