What ever happened to Innocent until proven guilty
Well, if this were a criminal case, then yeah. It's not, though.
The truth is that Blizzard legally owns our characters and everything on them. They are entirely within their legal rights to do whatever they want to with any of our accounts. Obviously, they're not stupid and realize that alienating large numbers of their paying customers is not a recipe for success. They do, however, have a vested interest in eliminating bots, farmers, exploiters, and such.
Now, with that said, I also want to make it entirely clear that I believe Where to be 100% innocent of any actual wrongdoing in this situation.
We need to keep in mind, though, Blizzard's position if we want to help him to get his account back. We need to realize that painting Blizzard with a broad brush isn't going to help his case. Approach them with respect, acknowledging their legitimate objective of keeping the game as free of exploiters and other 'undesirables', as possible, and then operating within that framework to try to clear Where's good name.
I have heard of cases where respectful persistence has achieved positive results, and I'd love to help in any way possible, but as much fun as it may be to talk of storming the gates at Blizzard, that's not really going to help anyone.
As they say, you catch more flies with molasses than you do with vinegar. I've found it to be true by experience hundreds of times.
