[Weekly - F/Sa] Week In Review

Been a crazy week. Got a major client on board, had some of the best mentoring conversations with my students, a bit of spiritual warfare and educating students to actually research position statements on politics and to avoid FB for all news/information related to politics.

Its been a good week, but I'm super exhausted. Trying to get my business up and rolling even further. Had a talk with Hubspot for their agency partnership program and it was a good humbling experience to talk to people more senior/experienced than myself and to see where I still need to grow.

On my first and only day off this week with another full day of work tomorrow. That said, I'd been working two jobs, but hours became available in my IT job that were not previously there, so I was able to let go of my last proctoring shift. Pretty stoked about that.

In other job news, I have a Skype interview with that tech company scheduled for this coming Thursday. I also applied for a middle school associate pastor position. Here's to hoping God makes open (and shut) doors apparent!

Not much exciting to report this week.

Work was quieter than usual, though there's always enough to fill the hours. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll even be able to run diagnostics on several machines I pulled and ship salvage back to our warehouse some time this coming week.

Baby still isn't sleeping through the night. :(

Speaking of the baby, I discovered that walk-in clinics won't see anyone under 18 months old, so I spent 2-3 hours of my Friday night at Urgent Care with a baby with what is most likely an ear infection. Baby was fine in the lobby, but she screamed whenever the nurse took us back to the exam room. By the time we finally got out of there, I had a headache and my hands were shaking thanks to hypoglycemia. Kudos to the nurses for giving me and my daughter a pack of cheese and peanut butter crackers to share. That actually made a huge difference for both of us.

@Ember was the matron of honor in her best friend's wedding, so that was a cool opportunity for her. The timing of my younger daughter's ear infection was terrible, though. (Not that there's ever a good time for a baby to have an ear infection.) My wife was at the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner while I was solo with a baby in urgent care. Thank God for Ember's parents watching my older daughter Friday night.

But aside from a horrible Friday night, this week has been pretty good!

Yup the pressure is still on with the rental property. To sweeten the pot I finally took the Subaru in for a look see after letting it sit for over a month due to leaking power steering. Turns out the rack and pinion is pouring fluid out both ends. Low estimate? 1k. So Subaru will continue to sit for a while. Praise God He provided the truck and pointed us to it a year ago. To make matters more fun, just before we went to see the house again my computer video card died, in the process as a potential cure ( it had a very strange video hiccup) I rolled back from Windows 10 to 7, thereby losing all important files on my comp. To sweeten that deal when I left it was loading over 200 updates. I got back today turned it on and it failed on the update, then took 2.5 hrs to rollback again. If my tmj disability comes in golden with back pay I will pay off the credit card and buy a new comp. Fortunately I was able to hijack my last video card from my lady's comp and return her old one to her comp before I left for the rental.

I'm late to the thread.

But I have a good excuse: I missed 3 days of work with a stomach virus.

I'll spare you the details.

But I'm better now!

...And that was pretty much my week: suffering through and recovering from a stomach virus.

Yeah.... my week was a lot of trying to get vision from God.

I've been thinking and heavy hearted to pivot slightly and follow different models since talking to hubspot about their partnership program. Also been more convicted to pray consistently for my wife. To be the spiritual leader more so in the house but I need to be in prayer a lot more than I have been.

Whoooooboy. It's been a week!

Big notes: I sustained/passed my oral comprehensive exam for my Master's degree. I officially and undoubted graduate in mid-May barring some calamity or act of God. Hooray!

And, the same day I took said exam, while I was trying to keep my cool in class that morning, I got a call from that company I previously had a Skype interview with. They've scheduled me for an hour and a half long technical interview over Skype on Tuesday to examine my knowledge and aptitude. I /think/ that is likely to be the last step in the interview process. They keep moving me forward so far, so I'm pretty excited about this.

I've been fighting again. Every day it seems there is a new battle against me, but fortunately I wear the Armor required! Peace keeps me walking in the right direction, Salvation covers my head, Righteousness protects my heart, Truth maintains itself all around me, Faith shields me from lies and many attacks are parried with the Word of God.
God is STILL Exalted, Satan is STILL defeated and Jesus Christ is STILL LORD!
Glory!

Praise God, quite a week. Long story short the 13th my better half went to a new church without me and tapped into a couple of brothers who are laid off coal miners that do work on houses and know rental business. They are going to finish inside and out at a reasonable price, and accept payments. They do great work fast, and have a marvelous attitude in Christ. I am still sick with a lung infection so can't hardly work anyway. I have been asserting since the rental went south that God cares for His people. He is making a way for us. Praise God.

This week was...a week. Seven days. Twenty-four hours each. Nothing extraordinary.

Tomorrow is @Ember's second Saturday off since she started working in 2008, so we're excited about that.

Shopped auto and home insurance until I couldn't stand it any more. Hoping to make a decision and switch insurance companies on Monday.

Not much to report, but no news is good news when our family had been fighting illnesses back-to-back for what seemed like months and we're all healthy now.

Saturday already? Thinking about the crucifixion and death. Sundays coming!! Well our crew will have it done for sure by the 1st. Even patch the storage building for temporary use. The credit card is crying in pain, but we rented it last night by phone. Long story short it was a lady who works at the newspaper we advertised in. She has been living with Mom and Dad while hubby finishes work in FL. Five kids and we didn't even check credit references. She submitted a letter with all the details of problems over the last year, and we prayed hard, and listened to God. So we will continue to pray for that family and for us. I can't believe God told us to rent based on a phone interview and letter. Sunday's coming!!

I do believe this week was slightly less stressful than most, Glory to God! Wife & I are starting to make some communication progress, which does resolve much in the way of confusion on both our parts.
God must have big plans for Crossroad Cornucopia. When the people were wandering the desert after vacating Egypt God appeared as a cloud by day and fire at night. When He moved, they moved. When He stopped, they stopped. Same goes for me as often as I'm paying attention. God has stopped moving the ministry forward, so I backed off as well. I still can manage foundational work still, just can't move with it yet.
Other than still trying (after 5 years) to get used to less physical activity than I'm used to and many muscle spasms (which somehow work into God's plans for me), things are going as God Planned!
Peace!

All week I prepared for the annual Sun-n-Fun Fly-In at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.
This weekend, all next week and part of next weekend I'll be camping on sight among some popular pilots.
I'll be driving a golf cart for disabled persons as well as escort for vets and ViP's.
Peace!

wow Lewie, that sounds super fun! I hope its a great and blessed time.

My week has been full of conviction and pushing me to open up more to those around me. Its also been hard for me too in that I've had to have really difficult conversations with a few of my students. More conversations that are borderline discipline(?) / trying to help them understand their thought processes and the dangers of their actions.

trying to grow my business still and I think I am going the right direction but time slips away from me each day T_T

I tried to sit down at the computer to type out a reply a few times this weekend, but never made it as far as writing a post.

Last week was fairly routine, aside from the torsion spring attached to our garage door abruptly breaking as soon as my wife and I got home from dropping off my car for an oil change. This follows our garbage disposal recently failing. Oh, the joys of home ownership. -_-

Work has been, well, work. I can't complain (but sometimes I still do).

Family is healthy. We're hoping to get out some Saturday when the weather's nice now that @Ember isn't working on Saturdays. Maybe this coming weekend?

Also, @Elihu's birthday was this last week, so be sure to wish him a belated happy birthday and tease him for being a year older than me (for a little while). :D

Late update. Just got back from California. Wife and I were there visiting my grandpa and uncles for nearly a week (once travel time each way was factored in). It was really good. Now it's back to the grind between here and graduation with a final interview on Tuesday.

been a good week. Been really trying to spend more "moments" and quality time with the wife. I also had a 16hour work day yesterday launching a client website.....

But my skills overall have improved in areas I did't think I would grow very well which has been really encouraging.

'Twas a good week! Work has been relatively quiet, though there's still plenty to do. The nature of my work (as a field tech in healthcare IT) is that it could pick back up at any moment, so I've been using this time to organize my office, close what tickets I can, and update project spreadsheets and inventory records. Asset management is definitely not the most thrilling part of the job, but how many IT jobs are there that don't chain you to a desk? :D

Baby's still not sleeping through the night. :/ We'll get there some day, @Ember.

Attended a class on depression this morning at my church and was greatly encouraged by the turnout for the event. They held the class in one of our standard Sunday school classrooms, I arrived a few minutes late (those with children will understand), and I had to stand near the edge of the room for the first several minutes of the class before someone left and a seat opened up. The place was PACKED. It really did my heart good to see so many fellow believers ready to talk about and learn about depression, what it is, what it isn't, and how we can respond to it as Christians.

Woot's, and Praise The Lord, the house is officially rented, 6 months advance payment on rent at their request. A very complicated deal, but it is a leap of faith directed by God. I just wish my better half wouldn't have spoken about taking a leap of faith for the Sunday message week before last. Now to wisely take resourced I have and set them up for long haul.

Every year I volunteer at the Fly-In is better than the last year. I end up with one more new friend from somewhere in the world. Truth be told, and it's best to do so anyways, I really haven't much of a life worth talking about, but when the Fly-In comes to town I feel so alive and useful.
Once it's over however that grand feeling I gain as I volunteer, the superb love both given and received by others and the fact that anywhere between 100-500 people did not have to walk from handicapped parking to the main registration building because they enjoyed a fun-filled ride on a golf cart seems to maintain itself within me for weeks and months to come.
In a nutshell: The Sun-n-Fun Fly-In at Lakeland, FL is one of my recharge points in life.
Peace!
