And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17:20
I can look back and be thankful for things God did not give me upon my asking. His "no's" usually seem clear to me. I feel I am going through a maybe/wait, in an area, and this has occurred for a time now. Considering Romans 8:28 I trust Him. Therefore, I pray for everything to be His will. Are my prayers selfish, the desires of my heart not in line with Him? Is it sin that separates me?
Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and our sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59: 1 & 2
I have been pondering this since it was brought up on another post. He does answer no more times than not, but then, I am always going to Him:) I know for me to have faith and patience is very important to Him. Perhaps that is the answer? Why does some prayer seemingly go unanswered?
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:5
Trust Him when dark doubts assail you
Trust Him when your faith is small
Trust Him when simply to trust Him
Is the hardest thing of all. Anonymous
He brought this poem across my path many years ago when I prayed so diligently for my sister to be healed. He chose instead, to bring her home with Him. Does having a single doubt negate a mustard seed? Excuse the pun, but I truly feel I can always, by God's goodness, "muster" that much:)

Have you considered looking at the mustard seed passage from a different perspective?

A mustard seed on its own is one of the tiniest seeds, yet it grows into a large plant.

Our faith starts out small and grows as does our relationship with the Lord.

Thank you Gen, that makes a lot of sense. No, I have not looked at it in that regard. I thought about it, but could not get past the seed part! That brings to mind the verses:

Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and hereunto shall I resemble it?
It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. Luke 13: 18&19

That makes sense! Yet another thing that requires patience, the growing of my faith! The mustard seed grows larger than any herb, and my faith can grow larger than any doubt, hugh?

Thank you, Gen. I will carry that picture with me throughout eternity. You are a sweetie, that is precious.

You're welcome. We are here to support each other in the faith as well as defend and explain it. I should be the one thanking you. While I was reseaching mustart plants, I found out some other interesting information.

Mustard belongs to the Cruciferae family. There are four petals on each flower suggesting a cross.

How beautiful! I too, have learned. It has been a very mustard seed week, has it not? lol As I researched the seed, the growth you were talking about really got my heart today. Knowing better, I have always had this picture of the grown mustard plant reaching into Heaven. Silly, but true. Then when I pondered what you told me, it makes sense. Our mustard seed of faith will grow and grow until the saved reach Heaven; faith will no longer be necessary, when we will then see Him face to face and live by sight. Or rather the millions of senses we will then have
