It's that time of year again...HALLOWEEN!

It's NOT good when a holiday is manufactured to combine Paganism and Christianity in order to satisfy as many people as possible.

It's a bit sad, I agree, but frankly it's preferable to total supression - which was tried initially.

Of course I'd prefer it if people had the conviction to be able to celebrate others religious holidays with tolerance and goodwill - the same way that they might expect others to observe their own.

I pass out candy at my house, but there are no decorations/dress up. I hate Halloween, but I respect other's right to celebrate it and don't give tracts instead of candy.

Does that make me tolerant enough for you Eon?

Yes, actually it does. That's, in fact, exactly what I'm talking about. See smiley happy Kiddies. And nobody has to get nailed to anything.

If you hate Halloween, then why participate in it?

As Marcy said, the word of the week is I N T E G R I T Y.

Because it gives me the opportunity to meet neighbors that I wouldn't otherwise meet, so I can show them that I'm not like that woman on Wife Swap or whatever that show was. It's like when Paul was writing about the consumption of meat sacrificed to false idols-- it's OK as long as it serves a Kingdom purpose. My purpose was to get to know my neighbors a bit better.

1Cor 10:27-31 said:
If one of the unbelievers invites you over and you want to go, eat everything that is set before you, without raising questions of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, "This is food offered to an idol," do not eat it, out of consideration for the one who told you, and for conscience' sake. 29 I do not mean your own conscience, but the other person's. For why is my freedom judged by another person's conscience? 30 If I partake with thanks, why am I slandered because of something for which I give thanks? 31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God's glory.

How can you justify partaking in Pagan rituals as glorifying God? I'm sure there are other, better ways to meet your neighbors, wouldn't you agree?
