Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.

to stream is easy..linux and shoutcast. YOu need a source for the stream though..![]()
Ahh, my days of helping to run an internet radio station are coming back to me. =)
Overall, this is pretty simple. Just go here and download the Shoutcast server. From there, you can give the server a stream from any app that will support this (it's the way real radio broadcasters do it). But the easiest, cheapest and probably most familiar way for you to do it is by using Winamp as the source. To use Winamp, grab the Shoutcast plugin here. Run the server, hook up the Shoutcast DSP plugin in Winamp and connect to your local server (127.0.0.1), and you'll be good to go!
Disclaimer: keep in mind that broadcasting copyrighted music to the public without paying licensing dues is illegal.
Also note that, if you're broadcasting at 128 KB/sec, your upstream may not be able to handle many simultaneous clients. To solve this, either lower the bitrate, or (instead of running the server yourself) you can find services that will serve up the music for you -- you just provide it with the stream. It won't eat up as much of your connection, and you'll be able to stream to more people, but it will cost some money.
Hopefully that should get you going in the right direction. If you have any troubles or want someone to test it out on, let me know! ^^
When I read that sentence, all I saw was "windows box" and "pandora," and I thought, "Wow, how appropriate."Or you can use a windows box and set up a station at www.pandora.com![]()
Don't worry. I like games too much. I won't be moving over to Linux any time soon (though I wish I could, and still play all my games).
True, and I've all but retired from World of Warcraft.UT2004 and WoW both work on Linux. So does the entire Quake series and Warsow.
