I've been playing computer games since I was 3 (Apple ][c+)... so roughly 26 years. Hm. I suppose I was banging on the keys more than playing... but probably actually started playing games like DigDug or PacMan around 3-4 yrs old.

First played through a Macintosh (Apple). The first games I've played on it was Skittles demo and CD-Man.

I'm not sure what version the Mac was, but this is how it looked like.

Since that Mac came in the 1990's, that would be accurate.

So, 17 years PC gaming. (off-topic) 15 years Video gaming.

That looks like my grandpa's PC, he brings it over here asking me to help all the time.

I think we need to re-make the poll with more accurate numbers. Many CGA forum regulars have been playing computer games for much longer than six years.

I've been playing computer games since Wolfenstein 3D. So, 2007 minus 1992 is 15.

Fifteen years. Wow.

Time does fly eh? 1992...that was when I started College and got my first PC (286). I was a major Commodore gamer before that though, got my Commie in 1983 but didn't have a disk drive until 1989. I remember all those Commie games I played incessantly...Pirates!, Elite, The Heart of Africa, Alien. And then there was Q-link, which had some really good (though graphically simple) MMORPGs build into the system, not to mention awesome discussion forums. Good times, good times.

27 years since my first PC gaming experience. Been going strong ever since. BigTop in 1983 was one of my early favorites. I had a copy of Zork around when it first came out in 1979

errr. I played pong in like 1978 ish.

I enjoyed break out more.

Intellivision's football was hot in the early eighties.

I did play zork I thru III.

So I suppose how you define a computer game?

Wow you guys are old...

:D

the first PC i really got into was the orginial DOOM (1993), but i cut my gaming teeth on the first Atari 2600 in proly 1977. So either 14 years or 30 years... 8)

Now-a-days, not anymore.

Hearing Women playing a lot now is a surprise too. Though, still rare to find yourself playing on-line games with "many" girls.

Not really, they are still very sparse compared to males, especially in action/shooter style games. My guess is that they get attracted into it initially as a social platform, get attracted to RP gameplay, or otherwise explore it with friends.

Anyone know of any studies comparing active/inactive lifestyles grouped by age and sex? I can easily sit 4+ hours a day doing nothing because I eat very little, but it takes a toll on your body especially when you participate in activities requiring endurance.
