27 years since my first PC gaming experience. Been going strong ever since. BigTop in 1983 was one of my early favorites. I had a copy of Zork around when it first came out in 1979

My first computer game was either a game called Lemonade Stand, Space Quarks, or Cavern Creatures. The first game that really hooked me though was The Black Cauldron which then got me to buy and play Kings Quest I, II, III, and Police Quest. All were on my Apple IIc. I also played a little bit of Zork, but I preferred stuff with graphics.

On a funny side note, my mom bought me this game when I was young called Leather Goddesses of Phoebes because she found it on clearance at Electronic Boutiques (what EB Games used to be called back in the day). It was a text based adventure game and it was before games had ratings, so she thought it would be safe. Fortunately most of it went over my head, but I never did finish it.

errr. I played pong in like 1978 ish.

I enjoyed break out more.

Intellivision's football was hot in the early eighties.

I did play zork I thru III.

So I suppose how you define a computer game?

I've been playing for about 17 years now (about 85% of my life), starting with my dad's HDD-less IBM with two 5.25" floppy drives. I can still remember getting our first hard disk, our first 3" floppy drive, our first CD-ROM drive, our first Sound Blaster... good times, all of it.

Wow, your hardcore.

About 20 years.....Apple II FTW! Then an IBM 286 something. I did spend a lot of time at a friends house who had a 386 AND a 486. Those were the days when 2mb of RAM was unheard of....espeacially on a graphics cards. Hey...I remember the days before directX where you could only play the games that were written for your specific graphics card. Oh...I remember the day I went over to a friends house and was jealous that he had gotten another hard drive and now had a combine storage capacity of 3 gig.

I think my first experience with gaming was skifree on Win 3.1 If I remember correctly.

However, it's been a lot longer than six years...

I just found my brothers old 4 gig HDD, that is so funny.

I used to laugh at people who played games and thought they were pretty strange. Then last year I got a new computer for my work and got DOOM 3. Been hooked ever since.

Lol yep, when my brother started i laughed at him with my parents (back when i was a mamas boy) then he said you "hey you want to try?" i said "sure...how do i do it?" and i have been in love ever since.

As long as i can remember.. but i put 6 years. Which would put me at 9 years old. But its been before that, im sure.

I think we need to re-make the poll with more accurate numbers. Many CGA forum regulars have been playing computer games for much longer than six years.

I've been playing computer games since Wolfenstein 3D. So, 2007 minus 1992 is 15.

Fifteen years. Wow.
