God's Involvement

Genesis1315

Ladies
From another thread, it was suggested that God is not as involved as He was in the past.

I think He is more involve now than in the past. No need to make a poll on this, just curious on your thoughts.

I'm curious as to why you feel He plays a greater part in our lives today than in the past.

No one has seen Him or heard from Him in thousands of years.

There are no pillars of clouds, pillars of flames, no burning bushes, no talking donkeys. Nothing.

Why is God so coy?

And please don't bring up Free Will. God obviously didn't have a problem messing around with Pharoah's Free Will when He wanted the Israelites out of Egypt. He appeared in front of His people (who STILL doubted Him, to His face). So how did that screw up their Free Will?

He can do the same today, but chooses not to.

Therefore, I assert that He is nowhere near as involved compared to the Old Testament.

Today's modern day "prophets" do NOT foretell the future. they already have. today's "prophets" aren't the same as back then. they're different. I think that the missionaries are somewhat prophets... I have know of some of miracles happening. And they give us spiritual guidance. I think that you are looking for the type of prophets that appeared in the Old Testament. I don't think anymore will come, until the Tribulation. DV, I sincerely hope that you will get saved before the rapture. If not, I hope it happens while you are still alive...

How can you say that God is more involved now than in those times described by the Bible? Before he actually made appearances and performed parting of the Red Sea esque miracles. We do not see such things today.

I think God is working in the lives of ordinary people. Not something as dramatic or noteworthy as parting the Red Sea. Given the total number of people on Earth, (in human terms) he is working exponentially more.

That's a HUGE assumption since there is no outward, physical evidence of God's existence or interaction in our daily lives.

If He is MORE involved now, why do we see LESS physical examples of His presence? As Mr. Bill said, there are no huge miracles happening or plagues of Egyptian proportions.

Would it also be a huge assumption to think He is not?

Ponder this....if Egypt has release the Israelites and followed God's will, would there have been plagues?

If God hadn't hardened Pharaoh's heart, SEVERAL TIMES, would there have been any need for all the plagues?

I don't think it's a huge assumption at all. God was extremely hands on in the OT, then He just disappeared in the NT. As I have said before, why not just step up to the plate, appear in a huge pillar of fire, smoke, flaming bush, whatever and declare that He is God? That would remove ALL doubt and we could all make an EDUCATED decision.

The way God interacts with us is different now, because of Jesus. Since Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, He is still here, with us every day. Just because we do not see the Father, does not mean that He is not active.

Each believer is indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit. So for every single one of us, He is interacting daily.

Amen to that Gen!  Therefore, in effect, God is working miracles in the lives of non-Christians.  You see them daily, D.V., this time in the chaplain!  Man alive!  Some only may hear once, how many times have you heard the Gospel?  Oh, I think we are witnessing one big, gigantic miracle...that being God not striking all those who do not believe in Him, and who go as far as to disrespect Him, dead in their tracks!...
okay, okay, the fact that He does not give a sinner like me what she deserves is the biggest miracle of all time!

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.  John 20:29

And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. Luke 11:29

In I Corinthians 12 we see that some Christian's have been given the gift of miracles.  I ponder throughout my Christian life, and I must admit, I have seen many miraculous things.  I know of a preacher who was gifted in opening the wombs of women!  It was always a private thing in his office with the husband and wife, but it worked every time!  I have prayed and seen tornadoes pass several times, one directly overhead!  I think miracles happen daily and we are not looking.  Considering the years before Christ, there really weren't that many. Today, God can work through us because of the Holy Spirit.  God does give us free will.  He will not force us to allow Him to work within us.  We must yield to Him.

Meet the Holy Spirit

Quote[/b] ]Remember, the Holy Spirit sometimes comes as a rushing, mighty wind, a
tornadic blast or a hurricane, but usually He comes with a soft breeze.
Whichever way it is, let us thank Him that He has made available to us a
miraculous power that can be used by mortals like you and me to change the
eternal destiny of human souls and lives! - Dr. Jack Hyles

I agree with that statement more than anything. We see the miracle of souls being won, consider the fact that God uses me as His vessel!  That is a miracle!

We will witness a great resurgence of miracles again...

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.  Revelation 19:20

Miracles are all around us.  I believe they are more abundant than ever before!  We simply need to be still to see them....along with opening our eyes, not only our physical eyes, but more importantly, those of the Spirit.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

I love your choice of words.

Convict: to find or prove to be guilty, to convince of error or sinfulness.

So what is the difference between a MIRACLE and a COINCIDENCE?

If you believe EVERY LITTLE THING is attributable to a miracle from God, then what do you attribuate every little BAD thing to?

Satan is part of it... We are ALSO part of it... Back to the "evil humans" topic... but i remember your point DV. I think humans and satan are the roots of the problem. even, if you wanted to become "sinless" like supposedly the monks, but they HAD to have sinned in their lifetime. even if you sinned only i repeat ONLY! once a day, then you would have about 1000sins per 3 years... then divide that by about 60 or ninety and you got... um... 6000-9000 sins... God cannot tolerate sin, but he can tolerate you. how? it's like saying, i hate people who lie to me. then your friend lies to you. as long as you forgive them then it is ok for that instance.
