Topic for guys: what have u bought or are going to buy for your g/f or wife for valentines day? i was thinking Purepwnage gear but it wont get here in time so i might find something at hot topic tomorow and default with flowers and a card

A Tiffany's pearl braclet. Yes, a little expensive. But she's worth it. Not to mention Valentine's day will be our 3 year anniversary :-P

My wife always liked watching Little House on the Prairie when she was young. The other day she mentioned that she'd like to read the books again sometime. She said that she used to have copies of the paperbacks, but doesn't have them anymore (I'm not sure if they were lost or damaged). I got on Amazon and did a search and found a hard back book that consists of a collection of all five books in one.

I'm getting her the book and then i'll probably give her a flower with it.

The secret to giving the perfect gift to your special girl is to pay attention to what she is interested in, listen to what she says, pay attention to her needs/wants, etc.

im too poor for jewerly currently soooo, we'll see im gonna be with glitch and sammy today so i might find somethin thats kool.

jewelery is not always the answer. trust me. a girl can only wear so much. the best gift I've gotten lately from my hubby was a Colts t-shirt. It was something that I wanted, but I wasn't expecting it which made it perfect.

We are going away for a few days and just chillin out. Is much better than flowers and a cheesy card :)

Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that are fun and unexpected. I think usually they should not be a practical gift. The reason I say this is because a practical gift (like say cooking utensils) can be bought any time. The best thing to do guys is to listen carefully for something your girlfriend or wife shows interest in and surprise her. Remember it does not matter the cost, only how valued it is by the recepient.

even valentines has christian roots ;)

St. Valentine's Day commemorates St. Valentine, (ASTOUNDING SUPRISE!) who was an early Christian missionary. When he was imprisoned for his faith, he sent gifts to those he had converted -- his "loved ones."

Nowadays we celebrate Valentine's day by giving gifts to our loved ones.

And yes, I'm pretty certain that it synthesizes itself with a pagan holiday SOMEWHERE, but remember --- giving gifts to those that we love is a virtue, and WHY should we avoid virtue?

i checked out hot topic and they had a Kon* doll from bleach that woulda been kool, otherwise im at a loss because im not sure i want to spend $13 on a 4" plush...

Anime merchandise prices = lose.

I stopped buying anime merchandise after I paid $20 (including shipping) for a Trigun Kuroneko plush a few years ago (before I was engaged, before I was married).

even valentines has christian roots ;)

And here I thought it was just another pagan holiday :)
Whether the holiday was originally established by pagans or Christians, it's clear that the modern celebration is associated with a different religion altogether: materialism.

I'll just be cooking a fancy dinner at home, seeing as how I'm always broke, but I am a 5-star trained cook when I make the effort to actually do it, so it will be nice for us, seeing as how we rarely eat at the dinner table.

As mentioned in another thread, my wife bought me a Pertelian X2040. I bought her a Nintendo Wii Classic Controller. I've been playing with my new gadget and we've been playing Mario Kart 64 against since our gift exchange Wednesday.

We have reservations at our favorite pizza place for the evening of the 14th. Best pizza in the state, and nice atmosphere.

I like to take crescents and put two unrolled ones together to form a rectangle and then fill it with sausage and parsley and different cheeses and garlic powder (tonight I'm gonna do this only minus the parsley and with hamburger and onions instead of sausage :D) and then roll it up and put half-beaten egg over the top and bake it for however hot for however long (I forget)

Back on topic... I might buy candy for... someone... and not give my name... as a surprise... I'm so devious muahahahaha.... o.0

That's so sweet, C$! :D

(Giving someone candy, not your... um.. "food")
I'll probably give the cats a little extra food on Valentines Day.. other than that, nada.

the only thing in this room that's sweeter than me is the chocolate.

Yeah. That was lame. I'd better not leave a poem :P

And the crescent thing is delicious! :p
