Fall 2005 anime season

Is anyone else excited about the new series airing in Japan this fall? If so, please post a reply with which series you're most eagerly anticipating and what you've already watched (with a short review, if you'd be so kind).

I enjoyed the first episode of Mai Otome, but Mai HiME set such a high standard that I'm not sure whether or not Otome will live up to the promise of its predecessor.

I'll try to remember to post reviews of Cluster Edge, Black Cat, and Blood+ after I've watched the first episode of each. I've decided to skip Ginga Densetsu Weed, Da Capo Second Season, Animal Yokocho, and Paradise Kiss.

Anime is not the same as manga. Anime is animated, manga are comic books. Many anime are based on manga, but not all.

Don't judge anime and manga based solely on what's aired on Cartoon Network or imported to America. Many terrific series are never imported or, worse, butchered (bad voice acting and/or poor translation) before broadcast or sale.

Before anyone lumps all anime together as a greedy push for merchandising profits, I ask that they find a video rental store with the first volume of Read or Die TV, rent the DVD, and watch it with Japanese language audio and English subtitles. (I watched the series fansubbed, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the retail DVD's English subtitles.) I don't believe Mai HiME has been released in the US yet, otherwise I'd recommend it, too.

Anime is something I never really got into, though im sure I could get interested in it if I tried.

I actually use to make fun of my friends because they liked it :/

I'm definitely planning to pick up at least a few of the new series this Fall. Unforutnately, I'm out of harddrive space at the moment, so I'm somewhat limited in what I can follow. Also, over the last year or so, I've latched on to some particularly long running series which means at any given time, I'm following at least 8-10 different series.

Right now (not counting this fall):
Bleach (heading into probably the best 8 or 10 episodes coming up)
Yakitate Japan (mmm... Bread making anime...)
Eureka Seven (Probably my favorite that I'm currently following)
Tsubasa Chronicle (Clamp alternate world crossover series)
Full Metal Panic TSR (right up there eith Eureka as my favorite current series)
Erementar Gerad (generic fantasy, stuck)
Trinity Blood (vampires, and warped religious overtones, stuck)
GunXSword (Trigun semi rehash sort of, slow releases)
Tide Line Blue (post-apoc storyline, following on and off, slow releases)

Add to that at least the ones you mentioned for this season... daaaah, too many series...

Just downloaded episodes 52-53 subbed by Lunar. I like the series, but the pace slowed dramatically after episode 20 or 21. I'm eager for the Soul Society story arc to finish so we can see Ichigo, Rukia, and Kon back together again.
Yakitate Japan (mmm... Bread making anime...)
Hm. I guess I overlooked that one. I'll see if I can find the first episode and give it a try.
Eureka Seven (Probably my favorite that I'm currently following)
I've downloaded 14 episodes of the series...but I still haven't gotten around to watching episode 1. *blush*
Tsubasa Chronicle (Clamp alternate world crossover series)
When I saw the trailers for Tsubada Chronicle, it looked so formulaic--a "business as usual" anime--that I dismissed it entirely. Is it worth picking up a few episodes in a batch torrent?
Full Metal Panic TSR (right up there eith Eureka as my favorite current series)
Rock on. I'm diggin' TSR more than the original series right now.
Erementar Gerad (generic fantasy, stuck)
Skipped this one, too.
Trinity Blood (vampires, and warped religious overtones, stuck)
Skipped this one as well. I thought Hellsing received far too much press and I've since made a policy to avoid any series steeped in occult symbols, vampires, and other such rot. Such content usually indicates laziness on the part of the writer. "Well, we can't think up a story idea. Let's throw in some vampires!" NOTE: In an ironic twist, this is my 3,666th post. :D
GunXSword (Trigun semi rehash sort of, slow releases)
I've downloaded the first four episodes, but haven't watched them yet.
Tide Line Blue (post-apoc storyline, following on and off, slow releases)
I liked what I saw with the first episode, but wasn't so impressed that I continued watching it. When a few series end, I might go back, download the full series by batch torrent, and give it a whirl.

Agreed. >_< But if you pick up only one new series this season, make sure it's Mai Otome. It already promises to be an excellent series (though I don't know if anything can top Mai HiME).

No Ghost in the Shell or Cowboy BeBop? Oh wait, those came out years ago. Yea I'm still content with those for my anime fill. Acctually grabbed the special edition of the GITS movie on sale for $10 down from $25 recently and really want to pick up Stand Alone Complex on DVD. I'm not much of an anime dork can ya tell?;)
