E3 is on!

I didn't really rush it, but puzzle games are kinda easy for me...and it also helped to have my wife watching and sometimes helping me with ideas :)

<kidding>Way to rub it in XD . If I see you on TF2 I am so backstabbing you until you cry :p . </kidding>

But Empire Strikes Back was one of the best movies of all time, you can't really use that as an example...

...but wouldn't you be going "huh?" if you never saw Star Wars or if they never finished it and made Return of the Jedi? The feeling of completeness is dependent on the the other movies existing more so than Star Wars. Empire is good I agree but I rate it lower than Star Wars. Though Star Wars seemingly has a lower budget/scope it stands alone better (though one does wonder what happened to Darth). If you had the opportunity to show only one of the Star Wars trilogy to someone who would never see the others which would it be? It's possible for me to rate a sequel better than the original but the difference in quality would have to be significant to make up for the dependency.

I really can't say how Portal 2 will end up for sure. It's just in the videos Gladdos is already talking about "how you murdered me" which would make me want to play the first game. It's minor I know but that's how I think.

I've wanted to find someone who has never watched Star Wars and get them to watch the series in chronological order, in other words, start with the prequel series, and see what they thought of it. Granted that would remove a lot of shock from the "I am your father" but I think everyone knows that Vader is Luke's father already.

They may not be awake by the time you hit the good ones :p.

This... only I haven't read/watched/listened to any Harry Potter. You've killed it for me.

/would still watch the movie(s) anyway, if only for the fact that Alan Rickman is in it/them.

:o Sorry, thought everyone had heard about this spoiler (warning, few cuss words but the girl saying NOOOOOOO is priceless):

Seriously though, before I watched the 6th sense, I had overheard some friends talking about it. Ruined the whole thing. Sorry about that Kendrik! Harry Potter is the devil anyway... ;)

lol No worries. I just feel it my duty by design to give a hard time on occasion, too. ;)

Sixth Sense was spoiled for me, too.

Anyway... how about that E3? Any particular surprises to get anyone hyped?

I just recently got done watching all 8+ hours of the MGS4 cut scenes...one of my favorite video game series...if not my favorite...

It is indeed a very good series, however, my first encounter with it was the North American port of Metal Gear, that game wasn't so great, lawl.

I remember getting that game at funcoland. It was not fun. :-(

My boss finally got around to starting MGS4, which I took to him a MONTH ago, so I will be able to talk about that with him sooon :D

and <3 peacewalker

Oooh, oooh an opportunity to come full circle and back on topic :p. If you haven't seen it there is a new Metal Gear spin off project with a different type of game play. Sounds like the name Metal Gear and the Raiden character are the only things in common with the main series though.

Warning has some people getting chopped in half...

Even if the blade combat turns out as the coolest thing ever I still dislike Raiden :p .

He became cool in MGS4...and Rising is a prequel to 4...but I wanted to punch him so many times in 2...

I also fall into the "played the NES metal gear game but never MGS" camp. NES title had so many good lulz...I loves me a poorly-translated port! They're great like low-budget B movies are great. One of these days I'll get around to playing that MGS4 I picked up when it was $15. Or maybe Brittany will just play it, more her kind of game.

I'm hyped that I actually people doing something with motion control. I'm not all about motion control and don't think motion control is for every game, but I think it can be fun if done right.

Sony seems to be doing a great job from the get go: lots of games (like RE5) already have a Move patch announced. Upcoming games like Sorcery, Dead Space 2, and a DS Extraction port look very promising.

Most people seem to be disappointed with Microsoft's conference (and I do think it was the weakest). I was pleasantly surprised to see that they're not even trying (as far as I know) to do any serious gaming with Kinect...because I don't think that would work at all. Rather, it left me thinking, "hmmm...a Kinect personal trainer/Yoga game might work really well".

As for Nintendo, they did announce a lot of exciting games, and Zelda looks like it will finally provide a reason to have a motion+ controller.

Game-wise...I'm cautiously eyeing War for Cybertron...which comes out tomorrow. Activision-published makes me cautious, but I may end up buying it (used!) if folks think it is as good as it looks. Britt and I are looking for a new co-op game to play, and this would fit the bill nicely.

I'm not sure WfC is gonna have splitscreen, but I did play the prerelease demo. It's surprisingly fun. I found the demo got stale sooner than it should have, but I blame the fact that it was crazy locked down rather than the game design itself.

Also, I loved the NES Metal Gear if only for the Engrish. I find myself using some of those meme-worthy translations in various conversations and circumstances. Particularly "Uh oh! The truck have started to move!" and "I feel asleep!" Oh. The. Lulz.

Yeah, no split screen = no buy for me personally. Thanks for bringing that up...was all excited about the game for a bit. Usually I check that before getting excited about something. There's just too many good split screen games to bother with ones that aren't. Maybe one of these days I'll get a second PS3, and we'll have a great backlog to go through then.
