Did the Biblical Jesus exist?

CCGR: I have enjoyed this discussion. You are well versed in scripture, and you have proven to be fairly reasonable, compared to some.

I would hope that I managed to change that last post to major, before you saw it. or anyone else. I will admit, it was a dicey post. Which is why I changed it.

I visit many different message boards, and you can say, I've met all kinds.

Dispite what major may feel here, I trust that more people than not realize my intentions have just been to have a somewhat stimulating discussion.

Though we all know how sometimes such discussions can tend to get heated.

I hope that we may have other discussions like this in the future. Also I notice one of your administrators have made Medjai remove his avator, and his signature.

I understand that I'm an outsider here, more or less invading your... space. And I'm more than willing to conform with certain rules upon any given board.

I have no plans on placing a sig here, or an avatar. Because I don't know how often I'll be coming here, as I've said, I go to many different boards.

And I know that my handle, or nick name might set someone off. However, this is one area in which I must stand by certain principles. I say this to you, and the other administrators, who might read this.

I will NOT, change my name. If someone has a problem with my name, and they are more or less unwilling to...
turn the other cheek. Then that, is not my problem. And if I'm threatened with banishment over it, I'll choose the banishment.

I would hope, that it doesn't come to that. I'm just giving you fair warning about it.

Thanks for the compliment.

no worries on your name. the only people we had change or deleted their name was if it had swears in it. fair enough I hope?

are you wiccan by chance? curious on your handle

regarding medjai, I had no problems with his signature but then again I didn't notice the middle finger bit.

I also have been sick today and I didn't notice his avatar which I heard has some indecent things with a woman on it. Being a lady myself I would have not appreciated it.

It takes a bit to get my goat. I have no problems you or any of our recent visitors. We don't have to agree all the time but we should remain civil none the less. I like these discussions it helps strenghten my faith and I always learn something.

And Muslims believe that the Koran was inspired by God as well.

Quote[/b] (mrwitch @ Sep. 19 2003,5:38)]In all my years as a christian, I have never felt the presence or the spirit of Jesus.  I was surrounded by people who told me I should.  But, I never did.
That first sentence is a nice little oxymoron.

We're told in Scripture that anyone who accepts Christ and is baptized in His name recieves the Spirit of God.  Plain and simple.  So the only conclusion I can draw is that you aren't really a Christian and/or you haven't put your faith in Him...
Boy, aren't you just the blessed one.

You know, "Christians" like you are the reason that many people dislike Christianity so much.

You don't know Mr. Witch. Yet you judge him.

So here's my lil' story (very shortened).
I was born again in Kindergarten. Later on, someone told me I obviously didn't understand it, so I re/accepted Christ as my own personal savior as a teenager.

So I want to ask you, does one have to be baptized to be saved? Can one be sprinkled, or does it have to be full immersion? Please back that up too.

So was I saved? Am I still? I invite you to judge me.

My apologies for the delay in responding. My life got very crazy.

Quote[/b] ]1. The Bible said the earth is round and is suspended in space:

The Isaiah quote doesn't address the earth being suspended in space. As for the circle/sphere thing...perhaps. You don't get a point, but you don't lose a point (fair?)

But...it goes on to say..."[God] stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:"

So the stars are a curtain?

As for Job, in 26:7, interesting. The earth is hung on nothing.

Interesting because...
four verses later (11), "The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof."

in 9:6, he says, "[God] shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble."

and God asks Job, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding." (38:4)

And David sings a Psalm (18:15) about how "...the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD..."

I Sam 2:8 "He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them."

1 Chronic 16:30 "Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved."

Psalm 75:3 "The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah."

Psalm 93:1 "The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved."

Psalm 96:10 "Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously."

Psalm 104:5 "Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever."

Jeremiah 31:37: "Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD."

Basically, the earth has "foundations"

And please explain where the "four corners" of the earth are...and...
How could there be a tree as Daniel describes (Chap 4):
[b said:
Quote[/b] ]10 Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
11 The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
20 The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
with a round earth?

And so much for Heliocentricity...
Joshua 10
12 - Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13 - And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

I mean, how does the sun stand still in the sky? Either the earth stopped rotating on its axis or the sun moves around the earth.

But then again...we are talking about an all powerful deity here.

Bear in mind that by saying "the sun stood still" was defined as the sun moving around the earth and not the other way around...thus why galleleo and others got into trouble.

We have 2 Kings 20
8 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
9 And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
10 And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.

and Psalms 19
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
...
6
His [the sun's] going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

And Habakkuk 3:11
"The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear."

Quote[/b] ]6. The Bible stated that stars differ from one another centuries before scientists reached the same conclusion:

And it also seems to idicate that
1. The sun is not a star
2. Stars are tiny and can fall to earth

And does the moon produce light? The Bible says yes...

Quote[/b] ]The book of Leviticus (written prior to 1400 BC) describes the value of blood.

This says nothing more than if you lose blood, you die.

Pardon my language, but "No [fecal matter]."

While that would be evidence that those who practiced the fine art of bleeding should have read the Bible, that is all it proves. (that blood loss = death.)
