Behind our Character names

Okay, character names...

Two of the characters on the account are mine; one is my husbands. (The third is my sisters, but will become a PvP slot once we get our second account; I'll give her one of those slots, since she's still Pre-Sear anyway.)

I love exotic names, probably because I have an unusual name. (And I'm a Middle Eastern dancer...) I actually keep a list of cool female names.

Maid Mirawyn:
My character in the D&D campaign my hubby runs is named Mirawyn. She is a half-elven sorceress-cleric. I "made up" the name using the elven naming info from the back of Tolkien's Silmarillion; I chose parts that meant something I liked and created a pretty name. "Mir" mean "jewel;" "-wen" or "-wyn" is a common suffix for a female name. (Arwen, Eowyn...) It's very appropriate, since she has a draconic bloodline. (Think of a dragon's hoard.) I added "Maid" when I created an Adventure Quest character. Plus, it's reminiscent of "Maid Marian."

Tarabeth Charnay:
Much simpler. My sister's middle name is "Elizabeth," but that's too mundane. I have a friend named Tara, and I liked the way it sounded. I just made the last name the first odd-sounding thing I came up with.

My Factions free PvP characters (soon to be converted into a "real" account):

Lady Adraea:
"Adraea" is inspired by my dance name, Alexandria. "Lady" sounded nice.

Drion the Dedicated:
Also inspired by my dance name.

Thank You Dea for getting this topic back on track!! And your Character names....Deep!! I feel I rushed my characters names now :0(

Mine are all randomly made up. Except for my "playing with the missus" character, William Rennick.

My wife and I subscribe and listen to the online version of a radio talk show in Califonia, The Phil Hendrie show. This is not your average show. The schtick is that all the guests are really voices done by the host. And they're always doing something that starts off sounding at least mildly reasonable, and by the end is so outrageous that people who just happened to listen to the show call in to argue with the made up people. It's really very funny most of the time.

One of the characters is Pastor William Rennik. I chose him because he is one of the two "Christian" characters he uses. As she doesn't regularly attend the forums, I'll speak for her... all of her characters are named after "guests" on that show, which is why I chose that as a naming convention for our "play together" character.

So there you have it.

So, you're the husband of "Clara Bingham"? (puts two and two together)

I had toyed with the idea of naming one of my characters Bobby Of Western Estates, but the name was too long.

We have 3 characters and a mule.

Rho Mangelon - Rho was a military rank in an old Mech Warrior campaign from "The Order of the Palm" and Mangelon sounded cool. (mostly played by me)

Protector Keladry - Keladry is the main character in Tamora Pierce's "Protector of the Small" series about a girl learning to become a knight. (mostly played by my wife)

The Redenbacher - Yes folks named after the POPCORN!! (mostly played by my goofy son)

Delon Villian - our pack mule (not generally played by anyone)

The family that plays togather stays togather.

I added a new one! he will be in the pre world getting up his lvl forever;

Nerv Jren: Necro/Mesmer - he is also a character from my books, the kind that sucks everyone dry of life. He rocks.

That would be us. Not only did I get 'The Mr.' hooked on GW, but I got him hooked on Phil Hendrie! When we decided to make a pair of characters to play together, I insisted Tech use a Phil Hendrie name.

Those of you that don't subscribe to, or live in an area that gets The Phil Hendrie Show, can listen to clips on the website for free. I'm not sure if it's ok to post urls here, so I'll leave that out. :o

Relak Thorn - This actually started off as an anagram of my (now ex-) girlfriend's name, but then I modified it a little to sound/look cooler. :)

Elysia Jade - The last name comes from Mara Jade (Star Wars reference), but since Mara was take as a first name, I came up with something else.

Ira Hagen - This is the name of a character from the Clive Cussler novel I was reading at the time I created him. Dirk Pitt and all the other main characters were taken, unfortunately, so I went with one of the more minor characters.

Still have 1 slot open, not sure what I'm gonna make it profession-wise, but if I make a male character, I'm gonna name him Thrawn of Judah (After Grand Admiral Thrawn, my favorite SW character ever. ^_^) or Elysian Jade.

Elindar Longwood- This is just a totaly madeup name. I thought it would go good with the Ranger theme.

Lord Rubicant- Rubicant was one of the 4 and most dangerousof the elemental wizards of Final Fantasy 2. He was the fire elemental.

Val Valis- Again, one of the four elementals. This one was Air.

Magic Emperorr- This guy is named after Ghaleon from Lunar Legend. The name brings strength to this charactor because its a pvp battery.

Well I'm a bit late ...but here goes

Kiljoy Chronos - Kiljoy is a gaming name that I've used for every game I've played since the 8th grade...not sure why...I just like that way it rolls off the tounge so to speak...Chronos was added because GW requires 2 names

Lacerated Raven - Lacerated because as a W you take alot of hits...alot of those hits being from axes, swords and other sharp objects...Raven because my secondary is Necro and raven seems to go with Necro's

Shatter the Silence - Because I think the name is cool, and as an MM i'm waking the dead pretty much and causing all sort of havock for the ememy so it just seems like my character would be considered loud.

Kiljoy Chronos - Kiljoy is a gaming name I've used since the 8th grade...I heard the word oneday and just like the way it sounded when I said it. Chronos was added because GW requires 2 names

Lacerated Raven - I named this character according to it's class (W/N). Lacerated- as a warrior you take alot of hits from alot of sharp objects. Raven- just sounds like a Necro name to me.

Shatter the Silence - I think of Necro's as loud characters...wether Minion master or SS necro you are causeing alot of pain to the enemy. And the name just sounds cool to me.

Titus Lordan - Well the first name I think of when I see a big bald man in a fantasy setting is "Titus" Lordan was just put in there because I had to.

Bald Head Iv - well I wanted Bald Head only, that was the name of the first charecter I made, however when I tried to get it back someone else had taken it. Also it's biblical: 2 kings 2:23

John Son Of Thunder - also biblical, for those of you who don't know the apostles James and John were called "The Sons of Thunder" because of their short temper. Mark 3:17

This charecter, well I don't know what his name is, this slot is for my little brother until he buys his own account.

Boanerges, to be precise.
like the new christian game company:

not to derail the thread or anything... but I am really looking forward to their game

Syverstein Kirkerik - is our new char he is currently slated to be a permanent pre sear and help out new guildies get the start. I will only ask that you carry a few item to the rest of my group on the other side when you cross over. His name is from Old Norse and means "Rock solid victorious defender who dwells at the church of the eternal ruler".

Wedge Charr- Wedge I got from Wedge Antilles (from Star Wars) the Charr part came from a name generator...

Artur Hawkwing- Legendary king who united all the lands west of the Spine of the World, in the Wheel of Time series...

Frank Castalgion- This is The Punishers real name, his mother had it changed to Frank Castle though...
