Alliance chat

Stc95

Tribe of Judah Guild Wars Chapter Leader
yesterday on alliance chat, someone got mad about asking for help and/or money on alliance chat. now the person wasnt spaming (about too but he stopped).
i just wanted to hear your guys comments on the subject.

Well, an alliance is supposed to provide shelter, aid, and a place for people to get together.

If someone wants to ask for assistance (financial or otherwise), as long as he does it in a polite manner, without spamming, he is perfectly within his right.

thats what i (and a few others) said to him but he just keep going saying he's already given like 100k to people recently. and we told him THEN STOP GIVING! but.... *sigh*

I witnessed that exchange. You can either add the person to your ignore list or uncheck alliance chat. I did both. The person in question has been rude and borderline vulgar on several occasions before. He is not a member of SoE or SOE.

aye, we can't control all the members of the alliance, so we will probably get some...less than savory individuals on alliance chat.

It is imperative,as always, to meet such actions with kindness and love.

Well, I know I have helped and been helped by allies. I see nothing wrong with simply asking for assistance, any more than there is something wrong with asking for assistance from the guild, as long as it's polite AND the same person doesn't always ask for gold or items. But that is a separate issue.

The person in Question is not entirely a bad guy. He is not a Christian but the way other Christians have treated him in game and ripped him off you kinda understand why he went off that night. He is very Generous and I agree he should ignore the request for help and maybe turn of Alliance chat. I think one prob is a lot of people know he is generous and PM him. I know people will spam and I think he just got tired of it.

None of us are entirely bad people. My only real issue with what i think is the converstion in question is when he was told by an officer in another guild to relax or face possible action he responded with I only accept those types of statements from God. I can see where the officers fell disrespect.

The individual in question is one whom I've had trouble with in the past. The first time, it was over a dispute with another guild leader in the alliance about money. I ended up giving the individual in question 10k because I felt that he indeed had been wronged, and I frankly don't give a flip about money in this game because virtually all it does is make you the fashion king/queen.

My personal opinion on the matter: we should pool money together and give him a nice chunk of change. I had no idea he was not a Christian, so being combative isn't going to solve anything. I also have a shiny, new Golden Phoenix Blade that I plan on giving him along with whatever cash we raise.

Remember: Jesus said that we are to give whatever is asked of us. I think we can really brighten his day and change his outlook by each giving a little bit of what we have.

P.S. NO, I"M NOT ASKING YOU TO TITHE 10% OF YOUR GOLD.

On the topic of blades...

Fellblades dyed colors look AWESOME!!! Here's mine, dyed silver... (and no I'm not afraid of vampires :p )

I need a better picture, though. It really does look awesome.

that reminds me that i spent so much money on skills lately, i had only 4k to my name, and some random guy asked me to donate as much as i wanted to him, please, and he needed 25k...
of course i said i don't have that much...
then he replied well 5k then?
nope, but i do have 4k
can you give me 4k?
yes.
and i gave it to him... i don't know what he bought or why but he hasn't spoken to me since...

i don't miss the money though because he said "you don't know how much this means to me"

I too am interested in donating.

On another note, I'm not sure if it was the same person or not, but I had my first run in with inappropriate behavior on alliance chat this evening. It was blatant provocation. Really made me sad :(

well when i made this thread i just wanted idead about the use of alliance chat, i inteanded not to bash the offender by any means. and i also wouldnt mind give a k for him, i just gave 1.5 k to GAOL's guild hall for a rare material trader.

EDIT: PS: i also didnt know he wasn't a christian, i might have taken another route to him. and if hes not christian, how is he in a christian guild?

Idk, after the experience in alliance chat tonight, I'm tempted to just turn it off permanently.

I won't go into details, partly because it'd take too long and partly because I just don't feel like it, but it was a pretty heated discussion on what alliance chat could be used for; i.e. selling/buying (which I don't think it should be) and requesting aid/items (which, in my opinion, is perfectly fine, as long as it's done properly. A polite, sincere request is perfectly fine in my book, and I don't think it should be blocked. People simply need to be shown how to frame those kinds of requests. Pastori provided an excellent example of how not to do it. :p )

Anyway, things just exploded from there, and got way out of hand. :(

Idk, maybe I'm overreacting, but it's just been one of those nights.

I have been tempted to turn off alliance chat too, but usually if there is a discussion i dont agree with i either ignore what they are saying or if it gets too bad i just turn it off. The main reason i have alliance chat on is so i can talk with friends in SoE and sometimes help when needed.

I too don't want to loose Alliance chat becauce it is my link to all my friends at SoE but I did turn it off tonight.

Kel Queen of all Europe :(

this reminds me there was a person in i think GOD... who really went extreme when i refused to fight (he was a touchie) and he TOTALLY EXPLODED and went psycho on me o.o

he started saying sensored out words because of the refusal to fight him and unfortunately when i asked if an officer was on nobody responded.....

someone else came to the hall but they didn't seem to take it that seriously (if i remember correctly the person who came... kora[something] warrior?)
anyway, i was totally shocked and started wondering why he was in the guild..................

ya i know pastori is on "vacation" but if things keep turning for the worse, something needs to be done for alliance chat.
