    There's a METHOD to geekiness?

When I was about 12 (16 years ago for those counting) my family was bike riding in Farragut State Park in northern Idaho. We came up near the area they usually flew model planes and there was a medival tent city set up. We rode our bikes through it, and had some of the "guards" question our...

Jobs Calls for End of DRM

Probably due to the fact that the iPod is starting to suffer from competition. Now that there are cheaper alternatives to iTunes, he needs a bigger market to sell to.

    CPU question

Not entirely true, HCS. HP's 1600 series has PCI-E and starts at $449.

    CPU question

Just remember to find out with a prebuilt if there is expansion room. A lot of Dell Dimension's don't have PCI-E or AGP slots on the motherboard, and usually no room for additional RAM. Some of the HPs have the same issue, but I think they changed that on the current generation.

    CPU question

Or with the Christmas deals you can probably get into a good Core 2 based system, just keep the extra accessories simple. HP has some good deals on AMD64 and Pentium 4 based systems, and if you are patient, you can usually get an upgrade on the RAM or hard drive for free. There's an a1620y for...

Seeking opinions on external hard drives

If you're not using a slower drive, you might want to find an enclosure with a fan in it. SATA and faster IDE drives have a tendency to get a little warm. Some people luck out and never have a problem, some people lose the drive... better safe than sorry.

There may be another option for you, Tek. I have the ASROCk 939DUAL-SATAII motherboard, it supports Socket 939, AGP and PCI-E. Good transitional board. Sorry, I think I'm hijacking...

    Need Music Player/Boombox advice

The shuffle is pretty much designed for that use, so it should hold up pretty well. There is also splashproof mp3 players made by Sony and Ultra, in case you are looking for outdoor use as well. For the money, I'd probably go with the Cowan (Jetaudio) iAudio U2. Everything I've ever read on...

I'm gonna have to keep an eye on this. We just were told we get a Christmas bonus and I'm hoping to convince my wife to let me get a 2 LCD setup.

ChickenSoup's opinion FTL. :) Tek, I've got the 9600 as well, and yes, this would be a pretty good upgrade to those cards. Especially going from AGP to PCI-E.

This month's Games for Windows (Formerly Computer Gaming World) has a good article about the history of Christian gaming. It doesn't make any mention of the community, but it talks about Christian based development companies starting with the NES. I learned quite a bit, and even remember...
