Friday, February 25, UW event - again

Abba San

Legacy of Elijah [LoE] - Proud Grandfather
Two groups went - neither made it through. I'm up for trying again...every ecto counts.

Who wants to go?

Friday - 5:30 PST - meet in SOE GH.

I'll try to make it.

I was doing some brainstorming on the quest in the bone pits. We seem to have a pretty fool-proof strategy on every quest but that one. There are a few enemies that run from behind, mostly skellies. Other than that, most enemies come from the front.

It seems the best strategy would be to post SoS in the back to keep skellies out of aggro, and post team further front. That should keep the tortured spirits safe.

Thoughts?

The first week we went out it wasn't really a problem - we ended up waiting around for the spirits to climb the hill.

I wonder if having a human healer to keep them alive was what made the difference.

Also, I think I can put Technobabble on my skill bar - the extra time dazed may help us take them down before they can kill the spirits.

Thank for coming along again - I really want to get this one all the way done. Plus, I want to learn how to do it so I can farm in there.

Really nothing you can do about the skeletons. Technobabble won't slow them down, they use skills.

That's why I want to put SoS in the back - you'll aggro them BEFORE they get to the bottom of the hill and aggro spirits. If all goes according to plan, the spirits should be walking back up the other hill and not being attacked by skeletons.

Even if it doesn't go according to plan...I think it would still work better by helping the spirits to focus. Sitting in the middle they attack all over the place. Sitting up higher on the back hill, you could make much better use of spirits because they'd be hitting one target - spirits + painful bond take down a single skeleton in about 2 seconds.

Really? Hadn't noticed! :p

As far as farming goes, I just farm with my rit + SoS. Very easy.

but I don't have a rit that far along - an ele - a monk - a warrior - that might make it in there. But only my ele has top levels in Asuran and Ebon Vanguard. That really helps with the standard of honor.

Eh, don't have to be that far along. Just buy an elite tome and get ascended, pretty fast in Factions. Can also /Rt, but definitely slower and not as effective.

You can farm smites with 100b on a Warr. I'd imagine that a VoS derv would work very well now too, but I could be wrong.

You could also consider farming on events...lots of easy money to be made. I made about 2.5K plat over Wintersday, though that was a bit excessive. I just sold my candy apples/corn/cookies from Halloween and got enough ectos just from that for obby armor...and all I did there was barely farm and bought some ToT stacks @ 25k.

You can make loads of money in GW just by having some and using the very predictable annual economy to buy/sell stuff.

I do have a Rit that was going to be a survivor - emphasis on the, "was going to be."

I used to have lots of money - emphasis on the, "used to have."

lol - I'd like to see your Rit and 100b Warrior farming builds and the heroes you take.

I really appreciate your help on this UW thing.

I would love to come and try again I can bring my SoS or if we have alot of people we could do Urgoz or Deep or even try DOA again but what ever you can count me in.

LOL @ "used to have". You also used to have a lot less rubies and shards. :)

No heroes needed or wanted; they steal your ecto!

I don't mess with the 100b in UW often; only capable of doing smites and can't take aatxe/skellies/etc. Since I cap skellies with mobstoppers, I much prefer something that can take them down, since they'll be worth ~1plat each come Halloween.

For SoS, I run:
Painful Bond, Summon Spirits, Armor of Unfeeling, Spirit Siphon, Signet of Spirits, Vampirism, Pain, Bloodsong

Takes me ~16-17 mins to clear 36-38 ecto droppers. Yields about 5 ecto per hour on average. Certainly not as much as old shadow form before the skellies, but ecto are also worth more now. :) Plus there's lots of demonic remains (4-5 dust each), storm bows, phantom keys, etc.

I'm more than happy to go through a run or two with anyone. There are a lot of little tips and tricks; how to seperate groups, where popups are, best route, keeping spirits healthy, etc.

I really appreciate your help on this UW thing.

I've had fun in UW the past few weeks; this is really how it was orginally. We failed many times learning the ins and outs of each quest. Now that stuff has "recently" changed, it just takes a little bit of re-learning. Since I've seen a few fails, this is now personal. :) However, I'm confident we have the formula down pat now. I'm going to try to get the guide updated today with the hopes for easy runs for all.

FYI, some of the good folks from HsC helped me test this out last night, and it worked great.

Sat SoS on top dot red dot. I believe only 2 skeletons and one terrorweb (silver) spawned from that direction, very easy to take out. Main group just north of bottom "groups 1 & 2" dot. Spirits were quite safe, took no damage. Just have to be sure main group doesn't run north and bring aggro with them.

I'd be up for Urgoz or Deep sometime this weekend; double points! I want that coveted Luxon statue. :)

Don't forget the Obsidian Shards - lots of Obsidian Shards.

Sometime when we catch each other in game I'd love to do that. I'll work on getting my rit ready.

I'm on for Friday, too - maybe this will be the day we go all the way.

Forgot the sapphires, actually haha.

Sounds good. I believe other than SoS (which you can cap in forest), everything can pretty much be gotten @ KC. I'd just buy an elite rit tome if you don't play your rit often; 2 ecto will more than pay for it.

lol - I missed that - lots of sapphires, too.

Painful Bond, Summon Spirits, Armor of Unfeeling, Spirit Siphon, Signet of Spirits, Vampirism, Pain, Bloodsong

I have all those skills. I was running Spirit Light and Shadowsong instead of Armor of Unfeeling and Spirit Siphon.

And I have four questions.

1. What attributes do you run? I'm at 16 channeling and 11 communing and 4 Spawning right now.

2. What armor enhancements do you recommend? I'm still pretty basic armor - haven't runed up at all - except for the superior channeling.

3. Should I get him ascended or infused or both? that is how far behind he is.

4. What weapon recommendations? I'm still using an old Kersh's Staff simply because it gives me back most of my health loss. Now that I'm not worried about him being a survivor I am not so worried about the health issue. I probably have a 20/20 wand and off-hand sitting around somewhere.

Yeah, I don't like shadow song because it dies so easy, is so expensive, less damage, only hits one enemy, etc. One option here is You are all Weaklings!, as that will weaken (~70% damage reduction) all enemies, instead of blind (~90%) one.

Another skill used pretty often is Spiritleech Aura; could maybe sub that instead of AoU or Spirit Siphon. I really like Siphon because it allows you to absolutely spam things nonstop, so I feel that gives me the best damage/defense ratio and the easiest run.

I believe I'm at 12+4, 10+1, 6 or 8 + 1.

2. What armor enhancements do you recommend? I'm still pretty basic armor - haven't runed up at all - except for the superior channeling.

I'd go with survivors, both for UW farm and in general...though doesn't make a huge difference. You never need more energy with siphon on your bar, and a little more health will help you when being a bit sloppy around 3 skeletons. :)

3. Should I get him ascended or infused or both? that is how far behind he is.

You need to be ascended to enter UW; infusion doesn't matter. Vizunah Square -> Oracle -> Nahpui quarter won't take more than an hour or two, and after playing with your overpowered SoS a bit you'll probably make him your new main. :)

Kerrsh's staff is a good choice. Spirits are binding rituals, so no HCT/HSR will affect them. 40/40 set helps slightly on painful bond when you have scattered targets (like 2 aatxe or 3 skeletons chasing you, but not really close), but health will also help against the skeletons. I don't think one is much better than the other; I typically roll a 40/40, but I wouldn't go out hunting for anything.

Thanks - got ascended - got armor runed up - got attributes to the levels you suggested. I guess I'm ready to go along with you and see what solo farming is like.

Awesome, we should shoot for doing that after owning the UW this evening. Oh yeah.
