Stargate SG-1

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I just read the press release that came out on August 21st stating that Stargate SG-1 has not been renewed for an 11th season. They will continue Atlantis since its ratings are consistently higher. It is a sad day for us SciFi junkies. http://gateworld.net/news/2006/08/istargate_sg-1i_cancelled_iatlan.shtml

On a lighter note, there is a Stargate MMO in the works titled Stargate Worlds that is slated to come out late next year. Here is the official site.

I know, I am so sad. :-( They will have a lot to wrap up, so I wonder if anything will become of their hopes to continue the story elsewhere.

:( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! :( Oh man I remember going to the theater to watch the movie "Stargate" years ago it was amazing.
I really injoyed Stargate SG-1 and I hope I can at least see how they do the season finale in the fall 06 into 07.
I think the show took a dive when Richard Dean Anderson left and the storyline was lame. I could see alot of religious aspects about it and I kinda did not like that.
Stargate Atlantis I find is somewhat better yet that storyline could use improvement as well.
Hopefully some of the actors from the cancelled "Stargate" will come over to "Stargate Atlantis" to improve the show as well as the ratings so that it will stay on the air even longer.
I will miss "Stargate SG-1" as I missed Richard Dean Anderson. Good bye.:(

yes richard was awsome, he was almost the core of the entire thing. at times you imagine what he would say to the ori, and the pain comes back :(

I agree, RDA leaving was the beginning of the end. What has hurt the ratings more is that it's not anchored by Battlestar Galactica anymore. I don't know how they are going to do Atlantis without SG-1. They tied them both together. So are they going to lose contact with the SGC forever or is there going to be an occasional cameo when they need to contact Earth? The writers of the show have their work cut out for them.

First, to get it out of the way...

Second, there will probably be a Tribe of Judah chapter for Stargate Worlds when it's released. That's not really relevant to the topic, but I wanted to throw that out there.

Third, take hope! SG-1 may continue in another form (television, direct-to-DVD, or theatrical release movie, or mini-series) or on another network. If Farscape can score a television movie, then SG-1 can go on as well. Just...not like we had hoped.

/cry

EDIT: Episode 200 of SG-1 was awesome sauce.

Well at least there are 2 maps in CS:S we can play and maybe theres a couple of more of them out now who knows.
Heres what I got on CS:S, stargate_sg-1 and stargate_sg-2.

I don't know if they have one for CS1.6.

Farscape was good and I sadly miss it. I really enjoy science fiction.

I don't watch tv sci-fi usually, but I am sorry to see you guys so sorry. Or, whatever. It could be the maple syrup talking

Lol Yet considering your avatar is from Star Wars, I find the first part of your sentence hard to believe.:) It must be that maple syrup.

Stargate got a little stale after season nine but with the new cast it was getting a little interesting again. It's sad to see it go but perhaps we will get a movie out of it. Also according to the wiki this may not be the end.

On August 21st 2006, the Sci Fi Channel announced that they would not be renewing Stargate SG-1 after a series of poor performances in the Nielsen Ratings. Naturally, fans were enraged at the news, and spokespersons for the production have said options are being considered. According to the fansite www.gateworld.net, "executive producer Robert Cooper isn't counting Stargate SG-1 out yet."

However, this announcement of the series cancellation is innacurate. MGM/Sony hold the rights to the series and the Sci Fi Channel merely order episodes from MGM. As of the present time, no network or company has ordered new episodes of SG-1, so the show is effectively on hold, until a new buyer can be found. MGM has expressed a desire to continue the series, but an avenue has not yet been found. [1]

A similar incident occured in 2001 when Showtime descided not to pick up Stargate SG-1 for a 6th season, it was only a matter of months before MGM received an offer from Scifi to renew the series on their network.

Personally, I've never really liked the show. (puts on flame suit) The original movie was great (watched it on my wedding night) but the show is a sad sad representation of the movie's world.

Well I agree the movie was the best. They should have done sequels before turing it into a tv series.

Blasphemer! ;)

I thought the movie was just...okay. Great concept, though. I loved the TV series way more. Except for Season 9...and maybe 8...I can't remember. Season 10 has been so much better though.
