most Zombie movies are not sci-fi. The only ones that classify as such, are the ones where some space, or man-made virus or something causes the Zombies.

As for my list It's as follows:
Star Wars (All of them)
Soylent Green
StarGate
Space 2001
Star Trek
Galaxy Quest
Space Balls

an on an on... ;)

2001: A Space Odyssey
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Twilight Zone TV series (original)
The Matrix
Star Wars 4-6
Soylent Green
Artificial Intelligence
Dune
Predator

In that order. 2001 is my favorite movie, period. Eternal Sunshine and the Twilight Zone are both in my top 10.

IMDB has it in their top 100 Sci-Fi movies though.

Night of the Living Dead is Sci-fi. The theory the news was broadcasting in the movie stated that they thought it was due to radiation covering a NASA Satellite, which just returned from Venus.

Doh, Kidan you beat me to it ^_^.

In the others it is a virus if my memory is working corectly.

Dawn of the Dead - Genre: Action / Horror / Drama / Thriller (more)

Day of the Dead - Horror / Drama / Sci-Fi / Thriller (more)
DayOTD had scientists in it, I guess that's why they thought it deserved to be under Sci-Fi, after all it is 'Science' Fiction. :)

Maximum Overdrive! w00t!

Kidding.

Looks like everyone pretty much has the territory covered with excellent sci-fi movies.

Oh...wait....right...

SERENITY!!!

The Matrix
Equilibrium
Blade Runner
Aliens
Donnie Darko
2001: A Space Odyssey
Serenity
Planet of the Apes (orignal)
Back to the Future
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

I'm sure there are many more, and most of the ones mentioned thus far I really enjoy.

I looked through my collection and a found a few more that had not been mentioned.

Dark City
Total Recall
Slaughter-house five

The Matrix, and that's pretty much all I can think of.
word

My CISP 320 teacher was just talking about how they wrapped up the series. He described the makers saying "Yeah we made tons money on the first one, so lets just throw in a lot more black leather trench coats/ fighting in the rain and wrap up the story line to make our fans happy and retire"

The more I thought about it the more I agree. The story just kind of plumited after the first one. After the first one, the door was wide open to go so many cool directions, but I don't like where they went. I guess it doesn't matter because people doing awsome kung fu in black trench coats and shades in the rain is awsome enough, no story needed. But if they had both the story and kung fu- oh man...

I like the Original Trilogy of Star Wars. Much, MUCH better acting and storyline. Except when Luke gets his hand cut off. His anguish was weird.
