Yes, I know Keanu Reeves is set to star in a live action Cowboy Bebop movie

Well. I've done "some" research. (notice the quotation marks around the some).
I don't think it will be that bad of a movie. Keanu Reeves likes Cowboy Bebop enough that he won't make a bad movie out of it. Heck... i'm going to go see it when it comes to theaters.
Will it be just like the show.... no. But if they can make Transformers a great movie, they can make Cowboy Bebop.

I'm just crossing my fingers that it will be in the %20 of cartoon (into) - live action movies, that are actually good.
 
Its not that KR doesnt liek Cowboy Bebop, its just that he has no actual talent. I fear it will either go the transformers way of CGI + big explosions over a proper film (ok so you may have liked it, but i was a fan in 1985 when G1 was born... the new film is an abortion in all senses).

I just hope that KR magics up a performance... or they cast some diamonds for the other leads so put him in the shadow (although he will prbably do the Spike storyline and have the others as minor parts).

I would cast Christian Bale as spike (providing he doesnt do the batman voice) as he can do no wrong in films. I dunno about the other parts... although i have a few female candidates i dont think thats based on acting ability :D
