A good movie overall. SFX were awesome (tornadoes, Nightcrawler, etc.), but the story was simple, although there are good tie-ins with X3 in the future.

I did like the small details they put in there (Cyclops listening to Nsync, etc.) and if anyone saw Beast, I'll give them a cookie (yes, he was in there).

And what's wrong with Catholics? I have friends that are Catholic... I treat them as just another branch of Christianity.

Quite a few evangelicals/protestants view Catholics as having quite a few theological problems/issues. The whole Mary thing, and some others that I forgot. But the main thing is, if they believe in Christ as their savior, then it's all good. Only God knows if they're truly saved or not.

/me smacks those offering and recieving cookies

Hey there were supposed to be no spoilers in this thread

Now I can't go find them two myself, and I know to actually look for them also....

Exo--the evolution was an aspect of the 1st movie also. It's the entire premise of the X-Men. They are the next step up the evolutionary ladder, yadda, yadda, yadda...

As for the faith, I read the comics, I've seen the preview, I know that that character is in it, and his faith is a major aspect of his character.

I didn't know about Beast's cameo nor Remy's name...

I was talking to a Catholic woman once, the organizer of the Catholic presence on our campus, and I asked her about Mary, since I was curious as to what THEY thought. Here is the answer:

1. They DO NOT worship Mary. Nor did they change any part of the bible, nor did they change the teaching of the Trinity.

2. They respect Mary, in that she was the one that God chose to bear Jesus. And also, she is the human mother of Jesus, which also deserves at least some respect, right? And the passage (Magnificat?) in Luke exemplifies her love for God.

Yes, I agree that they do have some doctrinal issues, and some theological ones, but weren't the great theologists all Catholic up until the Reformation? St. Augustine? And all the rest? (the answer's yes, btw). Calvinists don't believe in free will. some branches don't believe in miracles of the Holy Spirit after the Ascension. I treat Catholocism as another denomination of Christianity. Just like I go to a "Mennonite" church (we're actually not really Menonnite anymore).

The anti-Catholic attitude is, in my opinion, appalling and sickening. Heck, I've heard more bad stuff about Catholocism than many other religions.

Pieman,

I was raised Roman Catholic and the have a different set of ten commandments..they dropped #2, thou shalt no worship graven images (so they can sell figurines I'm sure)

To replace it they broke the last one into 2, thou shalt not covet thy neighbors possesions and thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife

They have many prayers dedicated to Mary (Hail Mary full of grace) They believe she was sinless, they believe she acsended into heaven, they believe Jesus had no half brothers. all of these are NOT biblical. They are assigning godlike attributes to Mary. Granted she was a blessed woman and it end there. COntrary to their belief she will not pardon my sins or act as an intermediary between me and God. I go through Jesus!

I can go on but please do understand I was raised inthis faith and I left for many reasons. I am not condeming any catholics to hell, that is between them and God..I do fear for them that don't read the bible because they are brought up feeling that they can't interpret it. How will they know the truth??

Well if your watching previews obviously your not staying away from spoilers are you.

When the Matrix Reloaded Trailer came on my friend covered his ears and eyes and started singing im a little tea pot.

Last time I checked, they're going through a new "revolution" thingy.... Might be the thing to finally bring them out of the middle ages...... hmm?

Excellent movie.

Horrible movie.

Excellent because it was fun and cool. Most exciting part was seeing Colossus. Steel boy. Yay.

However, I am sorely disappointed in one thing. And it finally hit me half-way through the film, yet too late. This isn't X-Men. These are stories based off characters, but have no relation to them whatsoever. None of this is even close to how it SHOULD be. Forgive the spoiler, but phoenix should never have been here. The first time I saw her I was mad, and it kinda ruined the rest of the movie. It's like watching Matrix 2 and seeing the agents as the good guys. The story isn't supposed to go like that!
