Worship Music

Hey all, in my quest to become closer to God, I have decided to listen to more worship music, and press in more. I'm looking for more worship music to buy.

Music I already have/like:
Third Day
The David Crowder Band
Delirious
Newsboys (Their Adoration Album)
Brian Doerkson
Chris Tomlin
Matt Redman
Michael W. Smith
Jason Upton

I am also looking for different kinds/etc of music, soaking music (just lying in the presence of God), upbeat (more kind a.. tap your feet and praise music..), as well as others. Thanks

I dont really have any worship cds. I like the stuff we do in church but i dunno who it is by.

Pilgrim,

Go to www.klove.com and look at their music list there. They have a lot of popular cotemporary christain worship music that you can sample and get an idea of what you like.

I like a bunch of different christian most of what you posted in addition to the following.
DC Talk
Audio Adrenaline
Jars of Clay
Steven Curtis Chapman

I also really like Switchfoot and POD, though I'm not for sure if they are a Christian band or just a band that has christian members.

Rich Mullins is great too.  And yeah, definately pick up DC Talk - I think they have a pretty good idea of who God is and what it means to be a Christian.

And I like Toby Mac's new album: Diverse City.

when it comes to worship I like stuff like..Living Sacrifice - Inhabit. or some Antestor songs, maybe some Disciple too. but I prefer the worship songs that metal bands do. IMO I think worship should involve better musicianship than just strumming. you can worship instrumentally as well as vocally

Ah thanks, some of the above suggestions were not worship, but they are also great christian bands (Yes Switchfoot and Payable On Death are christian bands..(lets not debate this in this topic plz.. :P) I have heard of most of the rest as well, but have forgotten about them. Thanks

Pilgrim,

You might also check out Chris Rice. He is by far my favorite Christian artist (its not quite worship but its great to just listen to. Another thing you might look for for worship music is go to your local Christain bookstore and they usually have the WOW Worship CD's, which are compilations of different artists. They put out a new set every year.

I'm not a huge fan of worship music, it's too repetitive, but I like a few songs. http://www.flatfoot56.com/music/stones.mp3 I like that song, and I like a couple of Five Iron Frenzy songs (Every New Day, Dandylions, World Without End). I like a few worship songs we sing at church, as long as they're not singing about weird things, like God's name, and God's fame.

Mercy Me
Jeremy Camp (I haven't heard them though, but I hear they are good)

Passion and WOW CDs are good if you aren't looking for a particular artist. I like Passion because it's performed live and has a better worship atmosphere.

Well...this has brought up some really interesting ideals running through some of the opinions posted here. I think if ppl are really into the topic of "Worship", they need to look past music. We are called to lives of worship, not lives of music...it's just that music has become the most popular form of expressing our worship corporately.

I find it a little disturbing, sorry to say, that dude finds God's name and God's fame weird things to sing about. After all, isn't worship about God, not us?? Love to talk more dudedude7000...feel free to pm me. Love to hear why you have this view.

Actually, a good read (and simple) is Tim Hughes book "Here I Am To Worship", or Matt Redman's "The Unquenchable Worshipper". they are both small books contains with awesome insights into worshipping God with our whole lives, not just our voices and instruments.

btw, I'm a worship leader for soul survivor...and tim and matt have awesome, humble hearts.

Amen. Thanks. I was just wondering what other people listened to for Worship Music, but yeah, I totally agree that we can worship through art, dance, other creative means, and many other ways.

I shall check out those books, thank you.

Hey, I don't need to PM you, I'll say it right here! I think we shouldn't worship God's name, or his fame, I think we should worship HIM! And plus, what do we really mean when we say "I praise your name Jesus"? From what I can tell it's either just an outdated way of praising the person behind the name from a long time ago, or it's just Christian fluff! Don't get me wrong, I love to worship God, I just don't like all the cliche in alot of worship songs. That's just my opinion though. I totally agree with what you say about worshipping God not only through our songs, but also with the way we live.

Glad
A Capella
I am out of the ordinary here in music style! I like a capella music, hymns, and love quartet music. You said you were looking for something different
