World'd First Single-molecule Car

They explained it in the article...for the purpose of nano-technology.

What's the point? Nanotrucks, of course.

Eventually the researchers want to build tiny trucks that could carry atoms and molecules around in miniature factories.

"We'd eventually like to move objects and do work in a controlled fashion on the molecular scale, and these vehicles are great test beds for that," said James Tour, a Rice University research who co-led the work. "They're helping us learn the ground rules."

Well nano technology can help do alot of help. U've seen it in movies, remember agent cody banks. And u can't forget star trek, if they can make alot of 7of9's, I'll be a happy guy.
But think abut how cool it would be if they could inject automated nano sized machines in to your blood stream to unblock a artery, or repair a wound.
The posibilities are endless, ofcource I've seen to many bad b movies, where they take over stuff and start killing people.
