wisdom

A few things I've learned:

"To memorize is to forget, but to understand is to learn." If you just try to get through school memorizing facts and dates, you may do okay. But if you try to understand why facts are facts, you'll do excellent. Same with Christianity. Don't just memorize scripture, try to understand it and you'll better absorb it into your heart.

"Seek out your interests and your talents, combine and succeed." Want to know what to do with your life? First, figure out all the stuff you like to do. Then, look at yourself and figure out all the gifts and talents God has given you. See if you can combine that and make a career out of that. Then shoot for that career. People who live careers that they enjoy tend to enjoy life more than people who just work because they have to.

Its one of the hardest things to do, but it really helps out when it is needed, and God blesses you all the more:
When times are bad, praise the Lord! For through trials, things can be gained. When times are good, pray to God for help and guidance. For through the good times, we tend to forget God and let our hearts wander. Its just a good practice to do to keep your heart right in all circumstances.

Life is not made up of big leaps. You will not find yourself in school one morning and in an Asian mission field the next. God leads us to our pathways one step at a time. He trains us and helps to prepare us for our next task so that when you get from point A to point B, you're more than skilled to handle whatever it is God has for you.

Just some thoughts.

More "wisdom":

Don't form a position on something unless you are solidified in your facts and actually believe them. Then you live your position, instead of just preaching it.

Have a time of just sitting and doing nothing. Quite literally. We need to stop everything and listen to God just as much as pray to Him.

Finally, I'm gonna throw out my life verses: Matthew 6:33-34. These don't make sense to pagans, but when you're trying to think with the mind of Christ, it all fits together.

they books you read and the people that you allow to influence you determine what you will be years from now...

so choose friends & books wisely.

Something I have to relearn frequently - if you gonna go and ask God to bring somebody on your path to minister to - don't be too surprised if He does just that !
