Why we're moving the forums to a new host

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
Well, the forums are back up after a rough night and early morning without your daily dose of CGA forum goodness. Thanks goes out to everyone who messaged me (before and after I put up my custom away message) to tell me the forums were down.

The crash last night is only the latest reason we're moving hosts. Remember, the sooner we receive donations toward our new web hosting plan, the sooner we move away from this mess. Click here to find out how you can help.

Oh, right, by the way, we don't move the forums until we get the cash. Just in case you all didn't catch that.

I'm hoping this is sufficient motivation to help raise the funds...

Come on folks!

You spend money on movies, (junk) food at fast food restaurants, games and various other things. It only takes a fraction of those "entertainment" costs to help CGA. Use this opportunity to support and strengthen CGA.

Remember we must work together towards a successful future. As we grow, members need to step in and take some responsibility.

Good deal..I'll be donating as soon as I get my PayPal account fixed.

Tek...make sure you don't land on www09 for the HTTP server...that one stinks.

We are getting soooo close, folks, give 5 or 10 bucks, you'll be amazed at how fast we will reach this goal. The hosting service we are moving to will provide all of us with faster and more stable forums for which we all benefit from. CGA has been growing month after month and unfortunately our current hosting arrangement just can not keep up with the demands this growth is placing on them. Give consideration to this need and please continue to pray for CGA's growth that it remains Christ-focused and God-driven.

And we've hit the goal!

Forum members donated a total of 116.28 USD (US dollars).

I've submitted a request to transfer the funds in the Paypal account to the bank account I have set aside for CGA. The normal transaction takes three to four business days to complete.

I'll also need to contact Daniel, to get the login information for the cgalliance.org domain configuration. So, while the migration is coming soon, it won't be an immediate change. Stay tuned to this thread for more information.

Also, if you were planning to donate and haven't yet, please still send funds. All overages will be held in the CGA account for future expenses, such as web hosting for 2006.

And a big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who donated. I'll be whipping up that "Thank you" thread here in a few days.

Update: The money has been transferred to my bank account. I have other errands to take care of before 5PM today, but I'm going to try to sign up for and create our account with PowWeb some time tonight or tomorrow. That's the good news.

The bad news is that I still don't have any way to get in contact with Daniel (to get the domain name account information) as no one is answering the phone number on the WHOIS record for CGA. If anyone knows how to get a hold of him, please PM me as soon as possible.
