I am a social gamer and that was why I bought a 360. I didn't even start seeing people with PS3s on campus until my last year there, but it seemed everyone had a 360. Say what you will about the Halo series, that game was a fantastic party game when you've got three or four boxes in the same/adjacent rooms.

I bought my PS3 about 2-3 years ago. I will say I was VERY torn on the 360vs PS3 issue...there were a lot more 360s out there, and a lot more games. That said, times have changed.

I agree Halo is a fantastic game, one of the best FPS out there. Overrated, but fantastic. I just meant there are plenty of other great series, and it's not worth it in and of itself compared to all that is on a PS3.

PSN is going P2P soon with plus as mentioned at E3...

No, not P2P. Playing is free. PSN+ gives you free games every month, extra features, etc. Not even close to comparing.

I don't need the wifi and got official wireless controllers for $29/piece with the charge and play kit (did not see a deal like that ANYWHERE for the PS3 controllers)...

Sure, but plenty of people do. I have 4 PS3 controllers and have not paid over $30 for any of them. Was hard to find them at that price 3 years ago, but they're on sale or bundled at his value all the time now.

Xbox LIVE is $4/month...!!! so much... more people spend more than that just to play one game online...

Call it what you want to try to make it sound cheaper, but it is still $50/year that needs paid up front. That also means $100 for 2 years, or $150 for 3. To be fair, Live cards can be found on sale, but still. And of course, that's $50 PER ACCOUNT on that xbox, so this price could double or triple if you have a family. I could say that someone will pay the price of a PS3 for live over the life of their Xbox...but no one has been able to keep one alive that long yet. ;) /lowblow

Agree that paying even more than Live costs is way too much, but it doesn't mean you're not getting a bad deal.

Every game I have bought for my 360 was $10-$20 cheaper than it was for the PS3 except MW2...

You can't really claim this is the rule. I will say I think both PS3 and 360 games are usually cheaper than Wii games, because they drop under $40 in a month and lower soon after, whereas most Nintendo games stay at $50 for a looooooooong time.

I have the 360 elite, 8 games, 3 controllers, Xbox LIVE, and everything I need for it all for around $430...when I priced out the same thing for the PS3 I was looking over $600...

This is why I went 360...I took DAYS pricing it out...and saved $170 at LEAST going 360...

Plus, on a more opinionated note like most of my previous posts, I do not like many of the exclusives on the PS3 besides MGS4...

EDIT: Now, yes, stock without sales and without used games, the PS3 can and probably is cheaper, however, with used games and the fact 360 stuff seems to be on sale much more often than the PS3 stuff...and without the need of wifi, the 360 kills in price...

Also, I put all of my games on my HDD for faster loading and what not and with 8+ games on it I am no where near filling up my "small" 160GB HDD... Oh, and I have movies and music on there too... :D

You spent days figuring out up-front costs...and I know that $430 does not include a live acccount.

Honestly, it really works out like this:
If you do not want any online play, game updates, hard drive installs, ability to buy games, etc, you can get a 360 Arcade and it WILL be cheaper than PS3. If not, PS3 is cheaper, without exception.

In the past couple of months? I can name all of literally three people not on this forum that have a PS3. Though I will admit that after moving out of the dorms my console playing time has dropped in a way that can only be called 'significantly'. The lack of people I know that have a PS3 is still the primary reason I have held off from getting one for so long. That said, of the three I guess 'next gen' movement based controllers, I prefer Sonys so far (as long as it lives up to its promise of pinpoint accuracy) and for some reason Sorcery has me more enamored with the console than the Ratchet & Clank series (likely due to my not having been able to play R&C on the PS2 for over a year now...).

I am done arguing my point, but it is true the PS3 on the PSN does not have cross game chat? If so, OUCH, that is a BIG downfall on PSN...

The poll is broken. I can't vote for PC. :(

My PS3 is broken, so can it go in the poll?

Honestly, owning both, it's hard for me to say. I pay for live, but there's nothing I play online on my PS3 (speaking as if it was currently working)

The game I DO play online are on 360 (even though they're multiplatform), but for those 3 games (Read Dead Redemption, NHL10, and Transformers WFC) there is a larger community and the servers and netcode seem more stable (from what I've read)

but i mean

ps3...ninokuni...last guardian...drool

though, you can't use persona 5 as a reason yet, it's just as likely to hit PSP a la Valkyria Chronicles 2, and ATLUS loves them some PSP

Well, I suppose it could be used as a poll for something...not sure what though..."what would a could broken console be good for? A giant paper weight, or door stop maybe?? :p

On a more serious note, not that this thread has really had any seriousness to it anyways. :) BUT, I notice the PS3 is winning by 5!!!! :) So either people are voting who aren't posting or you guys talking about the 360 are trying to use reverse psychology on me...which isn't going to work, because since the PS3 is winning that is not what I am going with because most everyone in here is pushing the 360, although if I did that then I would be going with what you are saying and not voting. So I will go with the PS3 because in reality you are trying to push me towards the PS3 by voting and then only discussing the 360...that's right I see right through your games you guys are playing with my mind...off to buy an Atari 2600 it is then! nah nah nah boo boo! :D

Nonsense. You want an N64. Don't deny it.

Drop it on an intruder's head I say.

Also, I still say don't buy either of them even though I voted for PS3.

I will admit I am noticing a price drop in PC games for the better over the consoles as a whole. :) Which may steer me from getting a new console.

I was reading about the release of PSN+ today and it said that it gives you full games trials, so what kinds of trials were you getting with the free version, limited? Timed? or what? Sounds lame :p

Yeah, limited or timed demos. You know, the exact same demos you'd get on 360 games if you pay for live. I really don't understand where you're coming from most of the time... How can you say a limited demo on the PS3 is lame (that you don't pay for); then act like that SAME DEMO on the 360 is wonderful - which you HAVE to pay for to get. I really just don't know if you're kidding sometimes or if you are just that devoted to Microsoft.

The PSN+ demos will be full game downloads (but timed), and are just one of the bonuses you get with PSN+. I personally don't care for timed demos unless it's a reasonable amount of time. The demo for infamous is 1 hour, which is stupid to download almost 6GB for a 1 hour demo.

But, you also get discounts on games and a lot of other extras like background game updates. For me, the PSN discounts will pay for the service entirely. A little bird told me we'll have cross-game chat soon, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I know I probably love the PS3 as much as you love your 360. However, if you read my posts...you will see that when something is opinion I state as so (like preferring achievements/trophies). In other words - sure, I have an opinion, but my opinion is based on something other than the console I happen to own. The only things I "firmly defend" are things like price, where it's just a simple undeniable fact.

There are certainly bonuses to having a 360 - cross game chat, more people tend to have mics, etc...and I don't feel the need to defend my console purchase by pretending otherwise. There are also a handful of titles that you can't get on the PS3.

I don't mean this to come in a bad way...I'm just wondering if you realize how weird it sounds for calling the PSN "lame" where it has a better setup than your console of choice, which has happened several times on this thread. :)

This is absolutely true...especially those lovely Steam sales. There are enough great games on the PC that you really don't even need a console at all if you like playing them there.

The main reasons I like consoles (whether it be 360/PS3, OR Wii):
* Don't need to mess with installs, drivers, problems, etc. Sure they happen sometimes, but for the most part you can just sit down and game.
* I like local co-op. I think consoles are much better at this.
* I like to "have" games...so Steam sales aren't super attractive because I really like having that little box for a game I like
* I like a controller for most game types that I like to play. I don't really have a preference on FPS games (like both schemes equally), but I only play FPS games co-op anyway. I would like to see a good RTS come to the PS3 with kb/mouse, but it's not a big deal since I have a PC too. Anyway, I just think a controller is better for MOST game types.

I'm probably missing a few points for consoles...but what it just comes down to is that if those things aren't important to you, maybe you'd be better off never getting a console at all, ya know? If they are, then you should look into it when the time is right. :)

One, if you have been around me long enough, which most people on the forums know, I don't discuss/debate well at all...I am not a good talker and have a LOT of trouble making my point...but I guess you haven't caught onto that...and the ONLY timed Demo on the 360 right now is Just Cause 2...and I download almost all of the demos... We usually get 2-5 hours of play content from each demo on the 360...

You want honesty...well, you didn't ask for it but I will give it anyway... Do I hate the PS3 and love the 360...NO... Why do I dis the PS3 so much...well, because I am mad that I cannot afford one, and I think HD TV is a joke... I went to buy one and they were sold out...so I got a 360...however, I wasn't expecting much from the 360 and was almost sure I would be disappointed...however, it impressed the socks off me...so I will defend it the only way I know how...my opinions... And the fact I only know ONE person closely that has one, and he lives 26 hours away from me... All of my other acquaintances have a 360, and to me if you aren't playing games with people you aren't really playing...and I like to play with people I know sometimes...the computer is where I play with people I don't really know :p

Almost every time you "attack" me you sound really rude...please chill out and be nice...again...get used to how I debate and discuss then have a conversation with me...I mean...seriously, ask anyone who has been here for 4+ years...I have probably upset them all just because I don't explain well... Sorry............

This is one of the reasons I got my 360...and this is actually where I have been disappointed...many games are dropping splitscreen, and the games that have it are dropping splitscreen online :( :( :(

I don't think he was rude. Maybe frustrated, but not rude. I think he debates just fine.

His point was that the Xbox 360 demo's are no different than the PS3's. The only exception would be with exclusives.

Also, How could you not like HD TV? :)

I just realized I said that wrong...lol...fix't in my post...I meant to say learn how I debate...because debating with me is like debating with an idiot... :p

I cannot stand to watch TV...I didn't even like spending $300 on the TV we have... We have Dish Network with the most basic package they have which pretty much has nothing but the locals...I see TV as a complete waste of time...and even have trouble watching my precious Anime... The only thing my TV gets used for outside of kids learning shows is my 360, which has seldom been on since getting into TF2 :)

HDTV helps a ton when you're trying to figure out what the skill tree says in Too Human

I could never really tell a HUGE difference in game til i got mine, but I'd rather lose one of my consoles (which i did) than my tv

:D
