Whats better? Win2k or WinXP?

I upgraded from 2k to XP a while back, and I must give XP some credit on this: I have gone the longest period of time without formatting under XP. I quad boot my machine too: 98, 2k, XP, and Mandrake 8.2. I dont think ive used any of the other os's more than 3 times. XP runs awesome on my comp, however, almost every other comp ive put it on, it had problems with...go figure. You kind of have to see what os fits your pc's "personality."
Probably 90% of the computers I built run better on 2k or it seemed unbiased. gl hf

I do give some credits to XP.. but if it ate up just a lil less resources, i'd hav kept it.. It just ate up like half of my 512 DDR RAM.. but 2k only takes about 25-30% average of RAM.. gee.. and all otehr programs run much quicker as well. I'm waiting to see what OS will come out next..

I cant wait to see what kind of anti-copy garbage that will have. Having to dial up bill gates to install windows is pretty ridiculous

oy... right now im using 136mb of memory with aim, virus protection, and advanced sound and video dirvers all running...I dont know what was causing that problem...however I do have a lot of those "Ease of Use" 'features' turned off.

I dunno. I rather like XP. between 2k and XP, I would say that 2k is easier on older systems.

Windows ME is a joke. heh.

windows 98 is decent, but not all that good, by today's standards.

what I don't like, though, is MS slowly killing DOS. even the command prompt. =/

WinXP=awesome, yet too much junks, good for n00by users
Win2k=awesome as well, good for advanced users who know stuffs to setup and all
WinME=ur kidding me.. scary blue screen every 10 sec
Win98=it used to have the best compatibilities until Win2k started giving out Service packs. Not much used lately
Win95=Hahaha its jus older version of 98 -_-
Win 3.1=My father and i installed this stupid-os-that-can't-do-anythin to this computer followed

Actually, I'm a long-time win2k user, but I REALLY like working on XP pro a lot better. Granted, the home edition is crap, and not worth the upgrade, but the networking and extra features in Pro are absolutely wonderful unless you wanna buy a lot of seperate applications.

Granted, out of the box, it will take up a LOT of memory, but like Flash said, it is GREAT for n00bs. However, if you're an advanced user, you CAN play with the settings and services. My version uses less than 100MB with everything off. Granted, My normal usage is up around 300MB (with antivirus, a DC app, and all sorts of networking services running) but if you put a little work into it, it'll run better than 2k with only a minimal increase in memory.

I use 107mb with most things running on xp pro.. Mcafee/Trillian/IE6/Winamp.. I am the king of wiping trays and registrys.

I hardly use any memory running Redhat linux. Last I checked I was under 100 mb of used RAM. By the way...the next version of windows is codenamed longhorn, and I have had a chance to use it (Arrr matey). It handles and looks a lot like XP. I didn't look around too much though, as I really didn't have many longhorn applications (seeing as this OS is still unreleased).

Deamiter has a point. U can plya with the settings and it does have many more stuffs compared to 2k and more compatibility/safety.

lol, I thought xp was like 2k, I just now realized I could use msconfig. Now ive reduced my memory usage to 113
