What is with the liberal temper tantrum?

The winter of liberalism has been thawing for 20-25 years. Bill Clinton was the only major victory for liberalism in that time period that I remember. The country has been slowly returning to its roots. The devastation of the "peace movement" from the 60s is slowly being corrected. The social experiment from the 60s has failed, it has been rejected. Pure and simple. I honestly do not see Bush and Kerry on "near polar ends." Kerry is definitely on the fringes of the political left. Bush I see as more moderate leaning to the right. President Bush's stance on illegal aliens is extremely liberal (as one clear example).
I am glad you mentioned the divisions in the country. President Bush and conservatives have been reaching out to the left for years. They can't make the left come. And that is the true problem. Liberals are acting like spoiled little brats who will only come if you give them everything they want in the way they want it. You know what that reminds me of? Terrorists. I do not say that to enflame you into a rage, but to explain how it looks to a moderate conservative.

And the same would most certainly be true of conservatives if liberals won across the board
There is your fatal flaw. You are making the mistake to assume that since you think a certain way, then everyone else has to think just as you. Liberals are good at diversity of skin color (almost to a point of being racists themselves); where you lack is diversity of thought. People think differently. To make the mistake of assuming conservatives think just as you is where you are the most wrong. That is what myself and others have been trying to convey. We think differently. You insult us to claim we think the same.

Pitching hissy fits isn't going to solve anything.

I completely agree. So why are liberals pitching such hissy fits? Why do they then blame everyone else for their temper tantrums? By doing so they completely discredit themselves. More and more people are no longer listening to them because of it.

I highly doubt that conservatives would take well to the concept of the presidency, the house, the senate, the governorships, and the supreme court all being controlled by democrats. That is not to say, however, that I think these 'tantrums' should be happening. I do not, they solve nothing. But I don't think you should be so naive as to think that members of your political party would not be upset by this sort of situation. You may not, as I am not, but many, many would be.

As for reaching out to liberals, isn't that basically the same as telling liberals that they should be more conservative? And why is it that liberals have to come to the conservative side--couldn't it just as easily be conservatives going to the liberal side?

Mr Bill,

25 years ago the liberals were in total control. Due to that, we almost lost the Cold War. It took a conservative (Ronald Reagan) to come into power, and win the Cold War. We are still living with 'The Gippers' legacy. I might add we should be thankful we are living because of conservatives. We might not be alive if liberals were still in control.

Why don't we do what the liberals want? Two reasons:
1. That idealogy has already proven to be a failure.
2. The American people have spoken, and the majority want conservativism.

Maybe in the future it will change. I will openly admit I was not happy with Bill Clinton being elected. I felt the liberal media got him into power, and kept him there. There have been changes since President Clinton, namely the internet and talk radio. People can now go to other sources for news. Look at the #1 cable news source - Fox News. Fox News leans conservative. More people want conservative views. Admittedly the liberal media has hurt themselves by pretending faked memos were real. I know a lot of people that do not believe a word out Dan Rather's mouth anymore. Why did he obstitantly stick with his swiss cheese story? There were so many holes in it.

sure, if the liberals had won, the conservatives would be expected to walk towards the socialist side.  fortunately, conservatives won.  Because of that, I expect the socialists to walk to the conservative side.

Now, this is not to say that the conservatives cannot give some, but the conservatives have won the majority of the vote, so it should be the liberals who give the most.   I find it incredibly disturbing that the day after the election you have a host of liberal programs screaming about how the President is going to have to go towards socialism to create a bi-partisan atmosphere (even though when he did so during his first term by allowing Kennedy to draft the education bill, all it rewarded him was hatred).

The Dem's lost.  They lost big.  As such, they should realize that a majority of the pople are not way out there in the left field as gay activists and eco-wackos.  Most people are moderate/right leaning, because they appreciate social programs for those who need it most, but they aslo want lower taxes and safety.

As well, Ihave to agree with Wyldcard on Mr. Bush being a right-leaning moderate.  For under his presidency we spent huge amounts of money on federalizing education, we created the biggest entitlement program since LBJ.  Of course, what happened with Bush giving the Liberal's these things, the libs just went more and more insane with the hatred.

No, Mr. Bush has tried the bi-partisan approach to domestic policy, and all it has acheived was even more hatred for him.

Kidan,
Well said. I agree with you. Like you said President Bush has reached out, and the reply has been hatred, and more demands.

This makes me giggle. Y'know why? If they ever did secede, us Jesusland (oh, don't you know, that's what they're calling conservative areas now?) folks would whip em' up good, y'know, like the backwards hicks we are, swinging our sticks.

People don't know how good they have it till they lose it. Just for the sake of proving a point, I'd almost challenge our blue comrades across the aisle to secede, then watch as ten or fifteen years later they come running back, asking for our previous union.

*lol* That article was hilarious. How would they get along? After all the blue states are on the opposite ends of the country. All we would have to do is levy huge taxes on them crossing the border. If the three left coast states wanted to, and the upper east coast states wanted to, I suppose they could. They would have to form their own small nations though.
This does not surprise me, because the same thing has been talked about by Christian Exodus. They have talked about seceeding from the union, and making a Christian only state. The liberals have called them all kinds of names. Now the liberals think its a good idea. Interesting indeed.
