What is a True Christian

Actually DV I dont' think so. I am speaking of Christian churchs. Again, I ask you to do us all a favor and tell US who they are. The list you gave is extensive, but given the Essentials you tell us who they would be.

I claim they're all Christians, period. You're the ones claiming some aren't REALLY Christian.

Do you disagree with the math? How are you not in the minority?

That is an awfully broad statement don't you think?

Of the entire list that you gave us you tell me in light of the ESSENTIALS WHO falls into the catagory of Christian.

Given that DV was asking for a definition of what Christian actually was, don't you think that one of the Christians would be more qualified to do the research?

As he said - from the outside they all look pretty Christian. From the inside though there are obviously differences great enough that wars are being fought.

Lots of people call themselves Christians. How many truly live like one? That's God's decision. We just try.

(...I hope my explanations wouldn't cause the debates on this forum to go circular...=P)

Question 1: Hm...i didnt word that part very well...that's my bad. What i meant was, "How many really are" and THAT is God's decision. I'll explain that in the answer to question 2...
Question 2: Yes. And I think a true Christian can live like a very non-Christian person too. What defines being Christian I feel belongs to the motive of the lifestyle; the REASON for acting "Christian."
If a person acts like a Christian just so others would THINK the person is a Christian is not being, in my opinion, a true Christian. The reason being is that the actions are based on deceit for personal gain rather than for pleasing or obeying God.
On the other hand, if a person has many, many, "un-Christianly" bad habits, but TRIES his/her best to break them for the sake of pleasing God, I would think God would deem this person "Christian," and would let him/her enter the gates of heaven in the end.

This kinda goes back to the parable about the Pharisee and the Tax Collector...in Luke 18:9

Again, very valid points.

However, I have found that your attitude is in the minority of Christianity, as this thread has proved.

Back to my post in this Topic and the Trinity Topic...

Hm...although my points are in the minority of Christians as you say, DV, I have yet to find one that disagrees with me. Until another Christian says otherwise, I would be safe to say that my points about individual relationship with God in my post is something all Christians agree on, and fundamentally, that is where we all stand united.

Is it really disagreement, or is it just wording and emphasis?
I fail to see disagreements among Christian posters here in the fact that Salvation is based upon individual relationship with Jesus...could u possibly give some examples/quotes to things others have said that is CONTRARY to what I said? :D

i think there may have been a misunderstanding, when we say "true" christian thats on a large scale, its just that a small minority of christians think they are christians but prolly wont see heaven due to misunderstandings or ignorance to the word (i.e go to sunday and listen on how we should not vandalize or lust then goes off and slash their bosses tires or has an affair), out of my youthgroup i would say out of 80-90 people who come maybe 5 of them call themselves christians but dont live the lifestyle at school the next day. rough estimate and im not saying there are people like that at my youthgroup, if there was i dont know em since i havent had a chance to get into the full swing of things due to school
