What Bible version do you use now or do you plan on switching to? I was just a bit curious. If other please specify.

I put 'other' because I like to use multiple versions. I'll go online to biblegateway:

And I'll generally read a scripture in NIV, The Message, Amplified, Contemporary English, and Young's Literal. I do that because I cannot read the bible in its original form, so I compensate by reading the different wordings of the same scripture. It helps to give volume and better understanding to what I'm reading.

Thats not a bad idea. Seeing it in different wordings can help you understand things a bit better. I am going to get a CJB soon because it is closer to the original than most or as far as I know anyway. Although I hope to one day learn Greek and Hebrew so I can read it in its original form.[b said:

I read a mix of the NIV and NRSV, a very underrated translation.
I guess I'm just Old school, I go with either KJV traditional or NKJV. Generally the latter, but I enjoy delving into the KJV on occasion. The NRSV is something I rarely use, due to a couple of reasons. Gah, of COURSE I can't remembe them NOW, but a few years ago I went on a crusade of sorts to discover which translation was "right" for me. I made a huge list of reasons why I didn't like the others and amazingly, contrary to popular use, I found that I found the most things "wrong" with NIV. Not saying the TEXTS were wrong at all, just...Iono. Somethin' sat funny with me about it.
I'll have to go find that list and like...scan it or something, then I can get it up on my webserver if you guys would like to see MY reasoning about the whole thing. Promise it's an interesting read

This is one of the GREATEST verses testifying of the trinity. That is why the Jehovah's Witnesses leave it out. They do not believe in the trinity and they do not believe that Jesus is God. Why does the NIV leave it out...? Whole books have been written on the manuscript evidence that supports inclusion of this verse in the Bible. Reader, do you believe in the triunity of God? If so, then this deletion should offend you. People are playing around with the Bible and it ain't funny.

I hate to admit it, but, there is could be something there. Go read 1 John 5:7-8 in the NIV and compare to KJV. The meaning of those verses change. But before you go jumping onto a bandwagon somewhere, the NLT version adds a footnote:
Also, the article references the "real bible." In otherwords, you are dealing again with peoples opinions. The author of the article may prefer to go by the other versions for their inclusion, which may have been insiduously added. Which is as likely as the other version having them covertly omitted.
Go with the version that speaks to your spirit. I keep a few translations around as well. As has been mentioned before, having different versions simply adds (not detracts) meaning and understanding.

hmm...i got free Bible software (e-Sword) which has about a dozen translations. But then my actual physical Bibles are KJV, NKJV, NIV, The Message, ASV, and ESB

this is true, and the RSV is a good version, but I tend to prefer the ASV or Webster's given the choice.
