Well, we've got a thousand other translations, why not LOLCat?

As humans have progressed through history, we've encountered a proliferation of physical diseases, and more recently we have seen a proliferation of mental diseases.

I would like to propose that "LOLx" is the first pure disease of personality.

There is a google tool you can use to translate existing words into some strange stuff. I saw a 1337 one and a gangster one. The gangster one was really good but it added in alot of profanity.

Personally I find that totally offensive and vulgar.

That particular translation takes god's holy word and makes it seem like gutter trash. The spelling is horrible, and it is hard to understand.

Translating the Bible is one thing, trashing it is another. This is trash.

would u feel the same way about a l337 bible?? i kind of understand where your coming from on this. it is disrespecting in a way, but isnt it like reading the Message bible? i dunno... i kinda relate it to this i found a while back:

I guess my take on this is that I don't find it 'offensive' per say, but in my view it takes something that is supposed to be sacred and life changing and makes it common. We often call it the 'Holy Bible'. The word 'holy' indicates that this message is set apart - different than any other. These words carry the authority of God and convey His radical, awe-inspiring nature, and help us to see that only He can truly make our lives a radical journey in pursuit of eternal significance and impact. Reading a LOLcat, 1337, or farcical ebonics translation seems to me to rob the message of that which makes it unique and special and turns it into a parody.

So, personally, I have no interest in reading these.

However, my convictions may differ from yours. And that's okay.

ugh, don't get me started on The Message...

Although, I must say I laughed pretty hard when I read this. (the LOLcat translation)

Song of Solomon 1:8 NIV translation:
If you do not know, most beautiful of women,
follow the tracks of the sheep
and graze your young goats
by the tents of the shepherds

LOLcat translation:
Yu beez pritty so we helped yu. If yu dunt know follow teh poop trailz of teh sheepz and graze yer yung goats by teh tents of teh shephurdz.

I feel the same thing about the L33t bible It is very disrespectful. It is like the world is trying to take something sacred and turn it into a side show attraction.

My point exactly. That verse is actually not bad in the original translations. I would hate to see Lolcats version of Proverbs....

I'm pretty sure that way back when, something like this would get you stoned..wiht very large (and preferably pointy) rocks

after reading that... im now with eskimo pie

I think the core issue here is the intention in "translating" (and I use the term loosely).

Also consider that we're not discussing a translation between real languages (say, from English to Spanish), but from a real language to an Internet meme (one, which I admit, shows no signs of dying off, unlike that "All Your Base" bit).

I admit, sheepishly, that lolcats is a guilty pleasure of mine. I've gotten many a chuckle out of lolcat images, but I still find the idea of a lolcat Bible translation unsettling.

I believe that Bible should be available to everyone, but it should also be treated with respect. Parody is one thing, but this leans more toward exploitation.

yeah once I saw all the swearing through it I stopped reading it... that and other certain things, anyway yeah I think maybe a [cleaner...] LOLcat version of Shakespeare or Moby Dick is long overdue.
