Matthew 6:17-18New International Reader's Version (NIRV)

17 But when you go without eating, put olive oil on your head. Wash your face. 18 Then others will not know that you are fasting. Only your Father, who can’t be seen, will know it. Your Father will reward you, because he sees what you do secretly.

Lent is here, just a reminder that fasting should be a private thing between you and God. Also fasting may be doing without something different than food. You might want to cut gaming time short, watch fewer movies and replace that with special reading of God's Word, prayer and/or meditation. Be creative in fasting, listen to Him, He wants to have special time with you.

Fasting should not be done only on special occasion. That's the tendency of many in the body of Christ. We should always do our best to draw close to God by sacrificing things or activities that have no eternal significance.
