Website Roster

We are working on a guild roster for the website. To make the management of the roster easier, we need a little help from the guild. Allakhazam.com has a free to use WoWReader that reads your in game profile and automatically uploads the data. From there, we can use that information to make a guild roster. Here is a live example (still working on making it look pretty):

What you will quickly notice is that there are a lot of members missing. That is where you come in. We would like the everyone to go to wow.Allakhazam.com and signup for an user account. Once your account is created, download the wowreader and set it up.

Then every once in a while, or every time you play WoW, start up the reader to upload your profile.

The wowreader has a WoW startup button in the interface that you can use to startup wow from it. If you minimize it, it simply goes into your task bar where you can open it from there. Some may use other interface options at startup like cosmos. Both can be started without issue before starting wow.

If you have any questions, post them here.

so i login in the wowreader. then refresh, then upload? anything else?

Sounds like you got it. It can take 24 hours at times for allakhazam to process the data. So check tomorrow to see if you info is on the roster. If not, post back here and we can see what was missed.

My understanding is that there is a plugin that gathers information about your session. Its not uploaded until you tell it to upload. It captures information about what items you have and seen and where or how you came across it (for farming purposes) and it updates your character info for the profile.

I had to setup an account with allahkazam to get things to work properly, which was no big deal. After each session, I run the reader and upload the information, turn off computer and go to bed.

The nice thing about the WoWReader is you do not have to run it everytime or even before you startup WoW. Part of the installation is that it puts an addon in WoW that does the actual collection of profile data. The WoW addon is what dumps your profile. The WoWReader simply reads that dump file and uploads it to Allakhazam. So really you just need to run WoWReader whenever you want to "freshen" up your profile or want to show off some l33t gear that you have picked up.

It would be nice if that information was updated everytime someone played so the guild leaders could use it, but we fully understand the concern and hassle of running it everytime and could live with it only getting updated monthly or quartely.

Also found out one other limitation of the WoWReader. It only uploads your last played profile. This is denoted in the WoWReader.

Only seen a couple of people added to the list. Is this something people are simply unwilling to do and we need to find another way to do a roster?

I think I just updated mine. Thanks for the info and the cool database Plank.
