War but a different kind of war. :)

*puts down torch and pitchfork*
oh.. you got me all riled up.

I'm not sure if I like the video. The message may be solid, but the way it's portraited is very... I guess subliminal or almost brainwashing-esque. If that makes any sense. I understand what the guy is saying, and if you think fighting fire with fire works in your own self then what he's saying isn't bad, but I'm not comfortable with the video part. That's why I'm righting this and listening to the audio in a different tab :)

Hey. Logos - I'm a Piper fan - but I don't know about this.

I understand what he is saying about battling our sinful desires but I'm not sure I agree with the notion that there should be a "violent, mean streak" in the true Christian life. I'll have to think about the theology a bit.

Thanks for sharing the video - thought provoking.

I like it...I think War is a good thing...when used to help us, and for God...heck, the OT was FULL of War...War that God "declared" in a way...

Romans 8 is a good example of this...where Paul says we are to "mortify" or kill the flesh. It is a war time mentality against the flesh in a sense. That is the violent mean streak I believe he is referring to...or atleast he has referred to it before in that way. There are several ways he has stated it over the years this just happened to be the one I pulled up yesterday. Very similar to the idea of Prayer in his book "Desiring God" where he talks about prayer being our wartime walkytalky so to speak. :) Hey atleast it got us thinking a bit. That never hurts! Well, for me maybe thinking sometime hurts...at least that is what my wife says on occasion. :D

Thinking is a good thing. The book I am reading right now, The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind, is about the reliance on dogma and unwillingness to allow questions and thought.

Thinking is a good thing.
