Vision: CGA Weekly Prayer Meeting

My pastor spoke on the importance of prayer last night and I have to admit that his message kicked my butt. I haven't placed the emphasis on prayer in this community that I should, and I want to do something about it.

I'd like to hold a weekly prayer meeting on the CGA TeamSpeak Server. The meeting would start out as a monthly event, then, after we picked up enough activity, move to bi-weekly, then weekly.

I don't know on what day and at what time we'll meet, but I know it will take community involvement. I need our affiliates to spread the word about this endeavor, and I need members of affiliates to make an effort to attend and help this effort succeed.

I would normally post this in the CGA Staff Forum and discuss it there first, but I feel that this is a very important matter and want to see some community response before moving forward.

While I think prayer is great, I think a lot of the affliates have their own prayer times. I am not sure how well it would be attended.

I think a newsletter would be awesome! Heck, we could even put in the winning entry from the writing contest!

But I still think a newsletter would be pretty sweet. It could even have a 'joke of the day' in it!

Ok from the person who used to write the newsletter......When I took a few minutes to ask those people who were on the mailing list what they thought and if they felt it was needed etc I got only 4 responses. With the time and struggle to get things in a specific format etc and other more personal issues, I felt that for the time being it was time to take a break from doing it. Now with soooo many prayers dispersed through so many forums unstead of everyone actually using the prayer and praise area, it is almost impossible to keep up with all of the prayers. I have some ideas on how to fix that but again with my current situation that just is something I am unable to undertake at this present time. I have been considering for those of you who remember the section in the newsletter, Prayer of the Week (POTW) of starting that back up again but in the P&P area of the forums for the time being. Oh and btw for me a Prayer newsletter is just that, meant for prayer and praise and a form of worshipping God. Meaning I feel it's just as sacred as any other communication with God so writing winners and jokes to me would not be the place for those types of imput.

What about a prayer request blog? It can be updated whenever it seems necessary. It'd be easier for those of us who don't check our email, and it would be something easy to check. Also, we could include progress updates! I'm saying this as a person who doesn't want to read 30+ posts to find out the latest news.

I'm just throwing out ideas. Feel free to shoot me down.

we have that in effect with the portal page(known also as the cga homepage). it is totally integrated with the cga forums. Anything posted in news and announcements appears at the top of the center column of the front page..
