VIRUS?!?!

Okay, I have AVG Free Edition and when I scan my PC it says I have a virus. At the end of the scan it gives me three choices;

-Move to AVG Vault
Not quit sure what this does. I think it moves it to a secure folder but other then that I don't know. After that am I able to delete it, the folder I mean?

-Heal
This is the one I always choose first. But most of the time it says the file can't be healed.

-Delete File
I dot this if the 'Heal' option doesn't work. But I'm scared about doing this because it might delete something important, then I'd be up the creek without a boat.

The program will also pop-up and tell you that your PC has a virus. But a lot of the time I doesn't give me any of these choices.

It would also seem that I have a 'Trojan' on my PC. I have moved it to the 'Vault', but I was wondering how to get rid of it completely.

Lastly, I get the Uber-rare;

-'Allow Access' choice
What in the world does this do?!?! If it gives the virus access to my computer why in the world would I want a freaking virus protection program?!?!? :confused:

Any help would be appreciated.

God bless,
Ryan

It's in case you know the file isn't a virus. Say for instance you try running a game and the Virus Protection accidently picks it up as a virus - you can choose to let the program run anyway (because you know it's safe). Firewalls are much the same way.

I suggest you read the FAQ and any other informational materials on it. If you're not satisfied with it you can always just download another anti-virus.

i would move to vault.... also cget the file name and check a virus database to see hwat exactly it is...

I just went thru a couple day ordeal of trying to remove a trojan and virus from my computer. I had the Startpage.19 and Downloader.Agent nasties in various forms popping up every time I booted up or opened My Computer. AVG detected them and I kept "healing" the files (which sent them to the vault). AVG suggested running CW Shredder, then Ad-Aware, then Spybot, then AVG again - THEN run all those scans in safe mode. I tried that and I still had the Dowloader.Agent trojan popping up. So, I went to the geeks forum, who use Hijackthis! and followed their instructions... and last night I was finally free of the mess.
