No, I'm not talking about the United Parcel Service. (Sorry, Plankeye.)

The power at my apartment went out about an hour and a half ago, but I'm surfin' the forums on my laptop as we speak. My cable modem and wireless router are hooked up to my UPS (uninterruptible power supply), and my laptop has another two hours of battery power.

I just had to post this, being a computer nerd like I am. :D

Now I'm waiting for the power to come back on so I can stop sweating. No air conditioning FTL.

EDIT: For those concerned, the Tornado Warning ended 34 minutes ago and the Severe Thunderstorm Warning ended 4 minutes ago, so I'm not endangering my life by typing this post instead of hiding under blankets in the basement.

Weather in Missouri does not follow any logical pattern.

My wife and I didn't notice the storm until we heard the wind knock the chairs on our deck (outside the apartment) over.

lol, glad you guys are ok though.
Thank you. :D

We were complaining that we didn't get power back until around 2 a.m. that morning. It turns out that about half a million people were without power the next day. When I heard that, I immediately stopped complaining. :o

The best practice is not to complain about anything, it is hard. Jesus never complained while he was fasting in the desert for 40 days and nights, I bet I would :(

I just posted something else because I didn't know this thread was related :)

There's a saying in St. Louis, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes"

....and I'm one of many still without power. It's not so much that I mind the power problem, it's just that my sump pump won't operate without power. I'm praying hard that we don't get anymore rain!

I think that saying is in all of Missouri. Heheh.

Ewww! My prayers are with you. Heh.

We hope they get it restored for you folks soon. Last thing you need at the peak of summer head is a blackout. Our prayers and thoughts are with you, guys and gals.
