Today, I looked and Odale has passed me on over all posts.

And I don't really care....

But should I?

It seems my poll did not copy over.

The obvious problem is that you are not trolling enough. You need to get "Thread Derailer" and "Sarcasm Much?" up to lvl 10.

ya know at one point i myself did have the highest amounts of posts.... :(
 
I can only gaze in awe at the accomplishments of sheer number of posts made by certain individuals here...

If I had all my posts on one account (instead of having them split across Tek7, Tek7 (Legacy), and Tek7@Uni), I'd probably have the highest post count. But I don't.

It's a long, sad story. Well, the Tek7@Uni part isn't so sad.

My previous account, Tek7 (Legacy), got messed up during a forums backend operation, which led me to add the (Legacy) suffix and create a new Tek7 account. The Tek7 (Legacy) account has since been stripped of elevated privileges and locked. That's why when people send PMs to my Tek7 (Legacy) account, they get an error about the PM inbox being full.

I created and used the Tek7@Uni account when I was still in college (oy, it's been a while) to help maintain security. I used the Tek7@Uni on public workstations, so I made sure that account has only standard access privileges plus access to a few key private forums (e.g. Tribe of Judah Staff Forum, CGA Staff Forum). That way, even if someone stole the Tek7@Uni account information using a keylogger or other scandalous software, that dirty hypothetical thief wouldn't have full access privileges on the forums.

Now that I've been out of college for a few years, I suppose I could merge the Tek7@Uni account with my Tek7 account and eliminate some confusion (not to mention boost my post count a bit).

And for those who ready to throw the book at me for having multiple accounts, here's the relevant section from the ToS:
Members will not impersonate any other person or communicate under a false name that you are not or have not been previously registered as, entitled to use or authorized to use. Members will truthfully represent their identity as themselves both past and present. All members are to have their own accounts and not share it with another person.

All 3 accounts make it clear that I was posting as myself. Both of the extra accounts were created out of necessity (one for security purposes, one as the result of a forums backend operation gone bad) and both were, of course, created with the permission of the President. :)

Call it executive privilege, if you will.

EDIT: If my math is correct, this is my 12,206th post.

I'm...not entirely sure.

The rule against multiple accounts without prior permission has never been an urgent concern for Administrators, so it looks like Odale Jr. just slipped through the cracks. I'm planning to re-tool the Terms of Service after appointing our next Forums Administrator (a task that got delayed by my untimely head cold) and will probably make the rule more clear next time around.
