I believe UT2007 is slated for a 2006 release.

Still, a new edition does not mean that the game will be obsolete. Many mods will likely stick with the UT2004 technology as the next edition will feature a major engine upgrade. I doubt the new game will be backwards compatible.

Kinda like CS and Cs source, alot of people still like regular cs better than they do cs source even tho source has an awsome new engine.
 
Weazel: Believe me, you'll get your $12 of fun out of it if you stick to playing it for a while. I bought 2003 for $8 a few months before 2004 was released and I got 20 hours out of it. now I'm up to 130 hours of UT2004 :).

well i have to wait for them to get them back in stock, ive played the game before just only played the demo one for ever lol
 
Hmm.. I would love to pick this up..but I only have 6$ on my paypal account..I get a credit card when I turn 19 though, which is August 5 2005 :D. Then again, it is already back ordered and the sale will probably be over. I will see if my local eb games has one for cheap ^_^

EDIT: If you're not convinced yet, download the UT2004 demo and give it a spin. If you think the game itself doesn't justify $13, then take a look at how many mods are available for UT2004.

WOW I didn't know this thread took off like this, really awesome.

Being able to turn off the cussing in the game was my favorite part. I voiced my opinion when they started to make the 2k4 version about that at the games website. I loved playing Quake but whew what language. Then UT showed up and bam I was addicted with my surround sound turned up and blast my way through the maps. I've been and still play the original UT99 GOTY with some of my buddies at work so I don't think obsolete is the word ah yes Classic is it,lol.

If you are into team competition or love the comraderee style of death match then jump into the UT competition team by contacting Kraniac.

I mostly play Onslaught ( a halo type of combat in vehicles with nodes to make your team color then attack the base) , Assault (an all out fight to see which team does the match the fastest), Capture the Flag (Get the opponents flag and return it to your base flag for a capture, not so easy to do with all the other team wanting their flag back), Domination (you have control points to keep your team color for the win) , Invasion (lots of creatures to kill, with each level getting harder and harder with more and more and more powerful creatures) that's is just a few of the game styles in one game. There are still lots more mods out there ( see Tek's post).

At J&R Music World it's $15.92 shipped. (4.95 shipping). They might ship to Canada.
