UI

I am in the market for a new UI. Currently I am using Insomniax comilation and it uses discord UI with bib toolbars. I use their format with some tweaks but am noticing that my screen is starting to get cluttered again.

I am looking for a general purpose UI that I can tweak if necessary. It needs to be minimalistic but still able to house my buttons.

Anys suggestions out there for ones I should try out?

I tried bongos just last week and have found it fairly good so far. It supposedly uses little memory and if very customizable. Anyway check it out if you have time.

I don't use a compilation anymore, although I did use Insomniax for a while. The main components I use are Discord Action Bars and Group Buttons from discordmods.com I tried to use his Discord Unit Frames but I like the Perl Classic too much, but there are tons of custom layouts for DUF that you might like. I also run Titan bars but want to switch to FooBar since it uses alot less memory (I have my memory set to 90 megs currently.) I also use MetaMap for my maps and CT_Viewport to resize my screen to keep my chat boxes out of the screen.

Those are pretty much the visual UI portion of my mods, ofcourse I run a ton of extras like tipbuddy, lootlink, loothog, auctioneer, etc but those don't really affect the visual portion of the screen.

I use flexbar, which is infinitely tweakable, but has a learning curve. Most of my buttons only appear on set conditions, such as selecting someone who is neutral or enemy, or certain health conditions. It even changes the specific buttons based on conditions such as switching to melee buttons on my hinter when the Mob is too close for ranged. I can recommend it, but to be honest, haven't tried much else, as this met my needs, and has been meeting them for at least a year.

I like Discord Action Bars over flexbar because the interface, at the time I don't think Flexbar had an interface. That might have changed but I DAB is pretty easy to use and as a druid the bar switching in forms is just easy to setup.

thanks for the suggestion, I might give discord a try. and no, flexbar does not have an interface but is extremely flexible. I will see with DAB

I have not messed with flexbar. I am more familiar with DAB since it is standard with insomniax. I have adjusted my screen and other things, but am finding it increasingly cramped with all the extras i am having to add on for making raid leading easier.

If any knows of mods to help make raid leading easier please let me know also. I already use the standard CT mods and I am trying out lookout, easyraid and luckycharms.

Do any of you by chance have some screenie's? I just use the usual WoW looking screen. I'm curious as to how you all have your screen set up and how it looks.

Thanks,

Chris

I believe you can use the album section on the main site and link directly to the image there.

I know my screen tends to get pretty full but I am planning on purchasing a 20" wide screen soon to help with some of that problem. I also use CT_Viewport to squish the screen to the top more so my hotbars and main chat windows are not covering up game area. I will try to post some raid/party screenshots when I get home tonight.

hehe... my screen is prolly 60% full on an average raid...

But on the flip side I like functionality over visuals... I only need to know what I'm tanking and if I'm in range of it.

What my Raid UI looks like. I forgot to mention I run Group Buttons from Discord also.

so viewport just causes that dark area at the bottom that you can push your hotbars, chat, etc into?

which chatbar does opens when you start typing, btw?

yeah, viewport lets your reduce the viewing part of the game window, you can move the top, bottom, left, and right sides. Once I get a widescreen LCD I will have more room on the left and rights and give myself a little more center area but its not too bad now.

The main chat window is the lower left and I keep raid/party/tells in that one in the middle just below me. I find it hard to look into the chat windows in the corners will actively playing but I need to have that info just below me to keep track of whats being typed. I could probably do without one of the extra hotbars and move things down a bit but I am so used to this layout now.

I also switched back to my 14/32/5 spec so no more Nature's Swiftness macro for me...
