TheForgiven 1 General Drakk 0

We took 3 hours with 3 party wipes or partial wipes but considering, for many, this was their first run in here, we did fine and much fun was had. The bar is set for our next run and looking forward to partying again with my guildies. There is plenty of room for improving our runs and I look forward to us working even better together next time.

After a bit of a rocky start, the gem of the run was taking General Drakk down on the first attempt without any deaths on the raid. This was an outstanding accomplishment and everyone should take a bow.

To help in next weeks raid, please ensure you are signed up via GuildAds and that you are runing CT_RaidAssist (which is part of TheForgiven mod pack).

I would love to hear from those you who were there and thoughts on how we did. What were the highlights and what can we do better next time? I posted a news post on our main site with a link to a couple of Guild shots around the General. If you have other pics let me know, I would love to add them to the album.

I thought we did fine. Looting should be stated in the beginning of the run though as not everyone reads every note about the run on the forum. Maybe make a macro that states the rules for the run. We were suppose to roll need on BoE and in the beginning some rolls were greed and some need. Then everyone was rolling greed. Maybe make a macro that can be put up in the raid group everytime we go because we will have new people go all the time I'm sure. Just a suggestion. I'll even volunteer to make the macro just to help out. This would also help because not everyone reads the forums.

In my opinion, the only "reason" (no pun intended :-P ) that we wiped at all was because all of us were not concentrating on the same person. Not sure of how to correct this, but that is just what I noticed.

Other than the wipes, everything went really well I thought. Not a single person dying on the final boss was excellent and I have to hand it to the healers on that one greatly for keeping the tanks and everyone else alive. Wend and Zeb did a great job. I'm looking forward to going again on Monday night.

Congrats to everyone on the job well done and I look forward to going with the guild again.

For the record... we were sposed to roll greed.. unless it was an upgrade.

for fighting one person, hunter's marks work well... but people have to follow them (except MTs)

....but for the main part, whipes aside, we pwn.

2 of the wipes were because of DPS being spread out, but the wipe on the beast was a different beast, pun intended. I think "The Beast" is probably one of the harder bosses to beat in UBRS because of the size of the fight area, and the knockback or fear factor, no pun intended. The first time we fought him we completely whiped, the second time we pwned him. So what changed?

Are there things we can do to temporarily stun the beast like kidney shots, hammer of justice, etc? I'm not entirely sure what his resistances are. It would be nice to keep him from running around and separating the group so that healers won't lose range to their targets.

I don't know what the difference was other than that the first time out I was feared 5 times in a row and really didn't get off more than about 2 heals (I usually throw out more than 20 on a boss battle) then I died. The second time out I put on my mark of resolution, which is only supposed to increase my resistance to fear by 1% but seems to do far more than that even against Mag in MC, and was feared once towards the very end. I managed to heal as per normal up until the fear...what changed?? I'm sure it wasn't just the Mark, perhaps I was positioning myself out of range and counting on the other healers to heal rather than positioning myself under the beast in hopes of being in range of the majority of the players like I did the first time.

Wow, good job guys. UBRS is a fun run, no doubt about it. Some very tough pulls in there, and for having a group made up of peole who had never been there, 3 wipes and taking down the general is an accomplishment!

This guild only run was quite fun :) I truly enjoy doing guild stuff.

From my perspective, we had a mix of people who knew UBRS all too well, and those that were unfamiliar with what to expect. So it was a strange feeling of going through an instance for the first time, but having too much fire-power and the knowlesge of where to use it in UBRS . . .which I found very enjoyable.

The first beast fight fell prey to the most common turning point of any wipe beginning to happen: the main tank dies. Usually the main tank has the most threat built up, even if she loses it momentarily, she gets it back and all goes as planned. But when she dies, the boss has a field day going after pretty much anyone and everyone, bringing on a cascading chaos that sometimes even the best of groups can't recover from. Also the fight area is large, and I am sure all the healers ran into out-of-range problems, as Osk did many times when trying to cleanse fear.

With the mix of group we had, I decided as Osk at first to hang back and support heal, trying to clease fear when I could. Osk burned all his mana up fairly quickly (later finding out that Wend was being feared alot) and with no mana left, Osk pretty much had nothing left to do but auto-attack. The second fight I decided that I would back-up tank, judging light on the beast to heal the melee types, I tried to make sure that if Tinie lost aggro, Osk would have a chance to pick it up. Osk never got aggro, but the second fight seemed more "contained".

Lets do it again!

And thanks all that helped Osk finally get his lightforge sholders, he is quite a happy paladin now :D

We need our back up teddy tank! Back up teddy tank ftw!

The fear just got us on The Beast. Next time make sure the tank has a stop fear trinket, and the main healer too.

Having 3 rogues and an uber mage on Drakk really helps. The dragonkin went down quite quick ;)

On the other fights we need a MT and OT. We all dps the mob on the OT and then take down the mob on the MT last. In UBRS, I think that either Tinie or Samsun or Neirai can do MT duty and Osk is always available to do OT duty. If Tinie, Samsun, or Neirai are there then make them MT and OT. I think this is the most sound strategy for all of the mobs. I will bring some OT gear just in case we need it.

Since Lunarmyst is on dialup it was helpful to have her sheep first. I think Adam can more reliably sheep the 2nd one.

That is my two cents.

Kevin

PS - doh, I had forgotten Samsun. Sorry Kate!

You are forgetting two things :)

1) Samsun! Gnomey warrior extraordinaire!

2) I WAS there... I was just the target of an evil device that transformed me into a dorfish rogue
