Tradeskills

Do you have a reason for this? Enchanting can get expensive eventually if you don't farm the mats yourself. My priest is a tailor/enchanter and when I make a green item with tailoring, I would d/e to get enchanting mats. Since I also have a blacksmith, I would do that with what I made with Blacksmithing. Right now, enchants that are wanted require skill levels of 300+....imo. But yea.....enchanting can take more money from you than give you a profit while leveling.

one thing to keep in mind is that once you reach around 270-280 the mats are next to impossible to find outside of high end instances. and you can't get the mats from DEing stuff in outland :(

I am in the final stretch of leveling my enchanting and it is crazy expensive and very time consuming. Keep in mind also that specific enchants are no able to be purchased on the AH anymore since most of the really good ones are Rep rewards or BoP drops. For the most part I make no money with my enchanting, even prior to BC and I was one of those who had +30 spell power...I still made very little money.

Food for thought.

You could probably make money spamming your services in the trade channel. Very few people actually take enchanting to make money doing the enchants. They, like myself, make the money from selling the dust, shards, essences on the AH. If you are looking to take up enchanting to enchant your gear, your best bet is to contact guildy enchanters. Either supply the mats (buy them off the AH) or strike a deal with them to use their mats if they have them available.

Take it from me you will miss skinning since you are a leatherworker:P I dropped skinning after hitting 300 LW and took up engineering for bombs and jumper cables:) And now I miss it terribly hehe, I havent been able to work up either of my skills because I lack the gathering skills:( I keep debating dropping one and getting the gathering skill but I only use one thing from engineering but I also have a couple MC drops for it that someone might want one day and leatherworking seems to be more useful so I dont want to drop that either heh.

Recently I started to level Tailoring on my Priest for the Shadoweave set when he gets to 70. And thats the only reason. I wouldnt drop a gathering skill for a production skill (I guess thats what they are...), with the exception of Alchemy (which is what I did with my Lock). People will always want pots and enchants, but pots are sold more often than enchants are.

Quantam recently dropped Herbalism for Enchanting, he said he got it to 360 in a day, but it cost him 600g to do it. Ask him :)

The only real self advantage to enchanting now is the ring enchants and the fact you don't have to spam guild looking for someone with the particular enchant you want. Normally the materials end up being worth more then people will pay for the enchant and the time it takes to try and sell enchants you could make more money farming. The exception is if you get some rare recipe that everyone wants and you can overcharge for clicking the button.

Dont go Enchanting if you wanna make money. Gathering professions require no money (except for the buying of different Tiers), therefore, its mostly all profit. Alchemy is another good money maker.
