Thank you for the warning, Killerah. I've posted a thread here to alert all CGA community members know the danger. I've deleted the install file I downloaded and will not be playing the game.

So some guy online told me that the game had starforce. I looked it up and it's true http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/starforce/do-not-download-this-game-151652.php pretty annoying, eh? I don't really care myself because it's not like I'm planning on burning any "illegal" copies of this freeware game for my friends. But it's still pretty annoying because I've heard some nasty things about starforce.

It is true that starforce can do some nasty things, after the Bet on Soldier demo, it took me for ever to get everything working again. It seems now that the company that makes starforce has been able to get most of the kinks that caused these problems fixed. I still don't like it but it seems to be the only way to stop people from burning games. Why a freeware game has it I have no idea though.

ah, good going whoever put that junk in it. Well that game is off my PC and full spyware checks all around now. gg malware

See, there it is.

You cannot remove it by just uninstalling or disabling it in hardware manager, I tried, it self installs on reboot. You have to use this which is offered by the same company that released the malware program to remove it. It did the trick for me, but we will see what else it either installed or left behind.

I just got this game from my son and installed it 2 days ago and played it once. I liked it. But it's getting deleted as soon as I can.
I just can't believe company's do this type of junk.

Aaaacckk...it was such a good game too. :(

I ran that StarForce Driver remover...uh, Talon, how do I know it worked? Should have looked in my device manager for Star Force before running it I suppose. :P But if it's anywhere, where would it be? Thanks!

yeah, go to control panel, system, hardware, device manager, view hidden devices, and then under non plug and play drivers

and make sure its not there.

Ok, I tested it and you can indeed keep playing the game without it coming back. So I'll just keep it around now that starforce is gone.

I think I'll reinstall and just remove starforce. It was fun game. I had to do some practing though. Online wasn't kind to me either. very bad lag.

I've gotten back into the game now. I've been replaying the tutorials and a little bit of online play.

I did a custom paint job with my name and website on it :D

Removing star force drivers and the game works fine.

The developers probably got some money from Starforce, but other than that I can see no reason. Why Starforce thought it would be useful to have their copy protection software distributed with a free game is beyond me though.
