Title CHANGE :) I have $255 towards a new console! :)

This, haha. I've always found it ironic that the system "built" for multiplayer has virtually none. Virtually all of the great Wii games are single player.
Eh? What are you on about?
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • Mario Kart Wii
  • Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
  • Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
  • Wii Sports Resort
  • Monster Hunter Tri
  • Boom Blox Bash Party
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party
Every game on that list features local multiplayer (and a few feature online multiplayer).

If you're talking about online multiplayer, then please specify that.

Eh? What are you on about?

What I meant (and did a bad job explaining) is that when you think AAA games on the Wii, you think Mario, Zelda, etc. These are the primary reasons many people (myself included) own a Wii. Obviously there are some exceptions, so maybe I should have said "most" or "a lot" instead of "virtually all"...but that's all I meant.

The list you cited is a good one, although yeah, online play is scarce. NSMB is a great example. I didn't realize MH:Tri had couch co-op.

My main point is that most Wii games (especially the ones you think of when you think of Nintendo) don't have co-op. Conversely, purely single player experiences are more rare on the other two consoles.

Its knowing how to work the system :) And sell things that I don't use anymore like my blackberry...and my blue-ray player (SINCE the PS3 is a blue ray...no sense in having two. :)

The deal I am looking at is at one of our local Walmarts...it is similar to this "DEAL" BUT it is only $349 here and doesn't have God of War but another shooter game in its place with Little Big Planet

For $349 that's not bad, but not saving very much either depending on which shooter game/how much. LBP is great, and I think you'd have some fun playing that with the youngins when you pick up a 2nd controller. If you do end up buying another controller, don't pay more than $35. They're MSRP for $55(!), but they're on sale all the time somewhere or another. Hopefully "shooter game" means "resistance". :)

Really console bundles tend to be terrible "values", but it's probably because they make next to nothing on said consoles. Remember when the Wii came out @ $250, and a lot of stores decided to only sell bundles with 3 games @ $400? Ahhh, good times.

Proud new father/uhum I mean owner of PS3 :)

YEAH!! Sorry Tek to beat you on this one, but you are looking at the proud new owner of a PS3. I ended up buying the general bundle for $299, and I had a coupon for 10% off so it was better than nothing. I also had some gamestop credit so I got FF XIII...I know some may not like it but I have played part of it before from a friends PS3, and i thought it was good. :) My wife is happy too...LOL She realized it has Netflix, tv shows, movies, downloadable games, blue-ray etc all in one. I may be in trouble. :) hehe Anyways, I am really excited to move on from being only a nintendo fan boy...it was a tough break but it needed to be done. :)

PLEASE don't post, "well you could have gotten a better deal here...etc" I know it wasn't the GREATEST deal, but it is what I had to work with. :) Thanks guys, and I look forward to many days of online play...now to pick an online game to play...hhhmm which one to go with first :) hehe

Errrrrr....gratz...lol...Enjoy... And no one should dis FFXIII...

You can also rip your music CDs to it which can be played in certain games. x]

Also, I would suggest getting a bajillion demos from PSN. There's a lot of awesome titles. xD

Actually, simply getting 10% off is pretty much as good a deal as you will find, because there is almost zero profit margin on the consoles themselves. :) What's your PSN ID?

No worries. :)

If my wife and I don't buy a PS3 this Christmas, it may yet be a very long time until we get one. We don't have a HDTV and I still have a backlog of great Wii and PS2 games to play, so I'm not rushing to make that initial $300 investment. It will be a long while before we're ready to drop the money on a HDTV, a new entertainment center, an accompanying surge protector, all the necessary cables, and maybe a new stereo system to make the most of a PS3.

now to pick an online game to play...hhhmm which one to go with first :) hehe
I recommend Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. If I don't buy any games in-store when I buy a PS3, Puzzle Fighter and Critter Crunch will be the first PS3 titles I buy.

And no one should dis FFXIII...
It's true. Square Enix finally had the nerve to cast a woman in the lead role, instead of a male lead that looks and behaves like a pouting teenage girl. I'd say that's a step up.

I have to say i am now looking into buying a ps3.... My xbox isn't being played at all currently, so I am going to try and sell it. After watching for a couple of months, I have come to the conclusion that the games I would enjoy are on the ps3, and the games I really don't wanna play are on the 360 :O

If I get it, I'll probably end up with LBP and LBP2, and uncharted 2 for the first games :)

Working on finishing the trophies on Uncharted 1 now...what an amazing game. LBP is magical; can't wait for the second. :)

I think LBP is going to be my next game, since it is dropping in price. Hey Bryan.. you care to make me a list of some of the good games like uncharted that are cheap now. Since I am NEW to anything but Nintendo, I don't really know what are some of the really good ones apart from maybe a few. Although after playing Assassins Creed 1, I realize I have been missing a gaming environment I have been wanting for a long time. :)

I just looked up roughly a HUGE list of $20 dollar games for PS3, OH MY GOODNESS...the fun I am going to have, when I save up some more money of course. :)

I offered a guy on craig's $175 for an almost brand new 120gb slim. He has it listed $210 or best offer, so I hope I can snag it for what I offered :)

There are people on craig's list who seem to be selling 120gb ps3s for $130-$250.... Some may be scams though...

I've had good luck on craigslist, but yeah, gotta be careful. Good thing is any slim should be under warranty, so not a lot of worries there. I think you can extend warranty an extra 2 years for $60.

I may be getting the PS3 just for the blu ray player alone. Not only that, but it has Netflix, which my wife loves and I can finally replace my Wii.
