I like to think of gearing and rep'ing up one or more toons as a means to an end. Rather, a means to a
specific end for me. For
me, that end is seeing all the content the game has to offer.
When BC came out, did I regret the eight months I spent with my mage in BWL? No, BWL was some of the funnest times I've had pre-BC. Learning week after week (6 weeks worth of wiping on Vael alone before we got our first kill) and eventually Nefarian, which is one of the funnest encounters I've ever experienced to this day. I was there for 7 out of 8 guild-first kills in BWL and those milestones were very satisfying. Yet, it took gearing up and learning
how to raid in MC and early BWL before we were in a position to experience all of that.
Unfortunately, BC came out when we were working on the second half of AQ40 (Huhuran), so I didn't get to experience what I hear as the most creative instance and clever boss encounter-design ever: Naxx...at least until WotLK when they re-tune it for 25 80's. BWL gear also lasted me at least five levels into BC too; another benefit.
But, in order for
me to experience T6 content, to see what Archimonde and Illidan are like "in-person", I need to prepare with T5 content. To experience Kael'thas and Vashj, I need to learn, prepare and gear up in T4, which is where I'm currently at. And so on.
I probably won't see
all of it, but I'll
enjoy as much of it as I can. Even if the gear will be replaced in a couple of levels, the fun and the experience of the specific content that interests me will not. The leveling process to 80 will allow me to experience new content. What happens
at 80 will also allow me to experience new content.
My 2 cp.
