Romans 2:4New International Reader's Version (NIRV)

4 Do you disrespect God’s great kindness and favor? Do you disrespect God when he is patient with you? Don’t you realize that God’s kindness is meant to turn you away from your sins?

I think this verse is even more appropriate for those who know Christ. Sin so easily creeps into our, my, life and must be dealt with. I have noticed that God starts off gently reminding us of sin, then through kindness and favoring us as His children ramping up the guilt.

This Scripture verse makes me think about how people have used God's grace as an excuse to continue to live in sin while it was given as a means by which people can walk away from their sins. The way (Romans 2:4) actually puts it, when we're deliberately living in sin, we're disrespecting God's kindness and favor because we're using them in such way that's tantamount to us trampling the death of His beloved Son and His Word under our feet.
